Smile yet another thankyou for jollygreenmonster

well Simon(jgm) came and mapped my car today. All i can say is what a great and helpful guy he is. He explained everything he was doing and why he does it, told me what the data meant and how he works the bhp/torque out. Well to say i'm happy with the results is an understatement, the car feels so much better and 3rd gear , so a big thankyou to Simon and after a bit of advice i'll no doubt see you again in the future

it was in the group buy from on here it was £580 all in but that includes the license so from now on its around the £300 mark each time. He will come to you mate but lucky for me he was up at the shootout so did it before he went back so no travel costs

Only £300 for future remaps after the license has been bought!? What does that work out at, £150/hr?

I remember when these remaps were around £300 for your first map, license included....just when did the price suddenly sky rocket...not to mention it being on a group buy.

The place local to me (well respected) who regularly map rally cars charge £40 an hr (inc VAT). They don't say how long it will take, as it depends on what you have had done to your car....some maps are apparently harder to make depending on requirements (anti lag etc). Most are done under 2hrs, and for my car he reckoned it would take less than 1hr...so that's £40 a map after a license has been bought.

John Pye Motorsports standard rate for work. You will need a license for EcuTek, and that of course adds to the cost if you don't have one. The more modifications you have the more work will be likely, so the remap cost can be higher.

They don't travel to you either, so will have to factor in travel costs. Remapping also takes place on the road entirely, so add in a tank of fuel to the equation too.

Simon is a top guy. Even helping me out at the shootout when I ran into a few problems.

Ive had Simon map my car a few times over the last year or so. And I wouldnt go anywhere else now. Always helpful and gets the results. Mapper of the first 10 sec wagon in uk lol.

Would suggest the minimum before you get remapped on an MY99/00

Decat/sports cat DP
Decat centre
Decent backbox
Uprated panel filter.

Optional, but good idea

3port solenoid
Uprated hoses (std ones can split)

Remap should yield best part of 280 bhp and around the same torque; car will be super responsive on the TD04 and a very marked improvement over std. You won't complain about spending the licence and remap fee, put it that way!

Aye, just to add my two pence worth from the mapping day.

To reiterate the work done on my motor was top notch, the results evident and the car feels rapid to say the least. Simon is a nice bloke and explains everything fully which was a nice touch.

The car feels very different, even before boost it feels fast but on boost it goes like a rocket!

Now I've driven the car quite a bit I must say that I can feel the benefit of the remap, it makes the car much more easy to drive, you don't need to work the gears as much if you dont want to, I have also found that you can get up to silly speeds very quickly as well.

The torque of the thing is ridiculous and the acceleration on boost is relentless through the gears.

I'd recommend Simon and the remap to anyone seeking more power.

what sort of power increase would you be looking at on a uk99 with full cat back system, and panel filter after the re-map? and how much would this cost? would i need a new ecu??
