Question 2.2 stroker on EJ20

For installation of 2.2 stroker kit from someone like Cosworth, HKS, JUN, is it simple plug&play fix or some machining is needed. I have 2.0 JDM CDB. Saw cosworth 2.2 stroker on ebay for like 1300GBP.

Would cost less than that to buy better bits yourself.

Pauter Rods, Wiseco Pistons, EJ257 Crank. No machining needed if your block halves are ok but a hone to suit the new pistons is advised. Although it will only be a 2.1 with an EJ257 (79mm) crank.

Depends on your power goals. If you're only going for say 450-500 then you'd be netter going to 2.5 route and swapping pistons.

If you want big power get the 2.0L CDB bored and sleeved to a 2.2 then put EJ257 crank and stroker rods and pistons in.

Or you could do what I have just done and have your CDB 2.0L bored and sleeved with top hat liners to make it a closed deck 2.5.

I got all the parts for my 2.1 stroker from lateral performance.

If youre using a cdb you will have to have it machined for the thrust washer if using 2.5 crank. But lateral can do this aswell.

just out interest what kind of price are you looking to have the block machined for a rear thrust bearing?

Who do the machining and how much would it cost to sleeve my 2.0 to real 2.2? or even to 2.3x? Simply stroking it with 79mm crank is the simplest option, my block is rear thrust bearing as it is Me thinks.

You bore and sleeve a 2.0L CDB to 2.2 then you use the 2.5 EJ257 crank and stroker rods and pistons to get it to 2.33L

what are the chances of the liners dropping? what's the usual cause for this? bad manufacturing or too much boost? can the block be re-lined after the drop? any info is much appreciated thx

Acid:
They don't make a 2.33CDB!!
They make the EJ22T which is then stroked to 2.33

Ilya
Depends which liners you use. Mine are top hat diesel liners.
Infact I have a diagram of my liners:

A closed deck 2.5 with 2bar+ should be lots of fun!!
