CALLING ALL 2002 STI OWNERS!!!
Ive been trying to sell my classic for a while now to fund an 02 Sti.
I now have the chance of a PX with an 1999 Evo6 with low mileage.
My plan now is to do the deal and then try and swap the Evo for an 02 Sti in a few months.
So my question for all you 02 Sti owners is, would you ever consider swapping your 70/80k Sti for a 1999 Evo6 with lower mileage?????
Honest answers please, no, "I'd never go to the dark side" ,if in the back of your mind theres a slim chance you would.

I'd keep my bug STi thanks.
I've driven a few different marks of Evo and they just didn't appeal to me the way the STi did. No RS's in that group of Evo's though, they might have had the character I wanted.

I have been getting itchy feet lately so i would consider it as i have always fancied an Evo for a while. However, my wife would kill me and i would be gutted if i regreted it

I had an Evo5 before I got the classic. It was tuned to 330bhp and I hardly saw any on the road which made it that bit more special to me. I'm glad I got a classic scoob and didn't do want my mrs said which was to get a bugeye. I feel you would get more thrill from a classic or an Evo rather than from an 02 STI.

Is thrilling being flimsy and having crap brakes ? LOL
My classic wasn't up to the job 97 Catalunya brakes replaced under warranty at 14,000 miles (!), glad I swapped !

as mcWRX said though 4.5k service interval etc.... Down to personal opinion!

...you can't compare a WRX to an STI just because you have the same power. They feel like very different cars. It's like saying a regular Evo and an RS are the same if they have the same power; they're not.

I've had the VI, not a patch on my 02 Prodrive STi. It must be good, I've done 114,000 miles in it

I've been on the Evo forums and the 6 seems cheap to mod. £900 will get me aroung 380bhp.
Think the turbo I'd need on an Sti would cost that alone to get to that figure!!
Its an itch I have to scratch but unless I totally fall in love with it, I will be trying for a swap for an Sti probably early next year.
The other thing was that next year , the Evo will be 10yrs old and imports dont need to be SVA tested so I expect the market to be flooded with Evo6's then.
The prices might plummet.

Id keep my Prodrive STI. Love it to peices and after 3 months of ownership am yet to see another one on the road.
Incidentally saw an Evo 6 the other day when I was in traffic and for some reason felt compelled to wave. Did so and got a hearty wave back

Being IN a car, and Driving a car, are two totally different things. Otherwise we'd have a bunch of 18 month olds with driving licenses.

It comes down to personal choice at the end of the day.
I have driven and Evo3 & and Evo7 but not an Evo6. The Evo3 was twice as much fun to drive as the Evo7 was, for me that what it boils down to. The newer Evo's are as much fun to drive as the Impreza's in my opinion, there preobably every bit as good, apart from service intervals.

Im quite happy with my WRX & my V6 4 Motion for the moment cheers.
Maybe i'll get one when i reach mid life crisis stage aye!
Seriously though, it is all down to the personal opinion wheather you want a harsher ride, cushy ride or best of best of boh etc..............
My mate with the VI isn't far off actually at 20, done quite well for him self i think.

I did it, ive done it etc..........
P/X'd my Impreza for the Evo6.
Fuel costs are exactly the same. I was a bit worried when Evo owners told me they only saw 200 miles per tank, thats because Evo's only have 40ltr tanks!!!
I picked the Evo up at around Leeds with 1/4 tank in it, filled it with V-power at Scotch Corner and only got £35 in it at £1.29 per ltr.
That has got me 200 miles so far and I've about an 1/8th of a tank left .
As for the handling, OMG!! I'm sorry but its in a different league.
Its as good in the wet as my classic was in the dry.
The brakes are immense too, compared to a classic 4 pot set up.
As for the service intervals, I do 10000 per year so 2 oil changes are required. Receipts show these cost £2-300 at a garage but I'll be doing them myself along with the AYC (which is a doddle to do and costs £11.95 for oil) so no probs there either.
Sorry guys, but I cant fault it......so far.

330 bhp evo all the way ......
my last car was the evo v in white with evo 8 turbo and uprated intercooler.
Moved onto 286 nhp mapped wrx.
Aint the same, but I do love the sound
The evo V to look at in white was a work of art.
<==============Have a look at both
