Maybe try google to find some road test reports.
All Scooby's are know to like a drink, so one thing you can guarantee is mpg won't be it's strongest point.
It will also depend how you drive it. I guess a 1.8 won't be as fast as your SRI so if you hammer it more then mpg will suffer.
But we can't be talking BIG variations. What does the SRI manage? 25-35mpg depending on conditions and driving style. The Scooby will likely only be 10% out at most. So it comes down to running costs, if putting £22 pound in for the same distance as £20 in your SRI then maybe it isn't for you.

Thanks
Yea cool.
As i said in my previous thread I love imprezas an the noise they make but cannot afford to insure a STI or anything like that.
That is my only worry fuel. I know it maye drink a bit more but aslong as its not stupid amounts.
Do boxer engines return better MPG on longer journeys.
Are they crap round town
Thanks

In most cases drive smooth, don't let the engine labour and stay off the red line. High rpms are ok provided you don't open the throttle too much to attain them or then maintain that speed. Also make good use of engine braking.

This site reckons 23/29mpg
1995 Subaru Impreza - Research the 1995 Impreza - Motor Trend Magazine
It is an American site so there gallons are smaller (3.78 litres compared to an Imperial gallon of 4.546 litres). So you should see slightly better mpg here. Although US roads are more economical to drive on.
If you couldn't average 25-26mpg all the time I would be quite surprised. This is probably pretty fair as I only used to average 28mpg from a 1.8 litre MGF and about 24-25mpg from a 2.0 EFI Maestro.

A boxer engine works in the same way as an inline or vee. Driving it harder or in a less economical way will result in worse mpg.

Couple of quick questions.
How big a car do you really need?
How many miles are you doing?
If you go for fuel economy in the form of a small petrol car or a diesel of any description the total cost of running it will be so much lower that could afford a much better car for the same total outlay. Sounds like you're on a budget so I would seriously consider this option.

nah not really on a budget just everyone says scoobys are terrible on fuel. I do really want one.
I dont need a big car but i dont like small cars lol an like the feeling of a big car
I do about 110 miles per week going back an forward to work ect
Usually go for a big drive every second weekend aswell
My vectra does about 120 miles on 20litres of fuel which equates to 27.28MPG which is crap as the book says 38mpg an i dont have a lead foot
