Scooby Lpg Conversion - Diesel Economy
With the current price of fuel and the fact I'm close to spending £400/month on fuel I've been looking at alternative options. Some obvious and some not so. I've been doing a lot of research in to LPG conversions for our Scooby's. I came across a guy who converted his modified Classic himself. I've posted up a Scoobypedia Technical article from his web site here:

Looks like the quality of the kits on the market have got much better over the past two years and I'm really swaying that way at the moment. I'm a bit of DIY person and tempted to do the same myself - especially when I break even after just 4-5 months. I especially like where he located the LPG filler - under the rear number plate! I've since caught up with this guy is still really happy with his DIY conversion and would do it again.
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else out there has first-hand experience of an LPG Scooby Turbo and let me know how it's going and if they have any words of wisdom in the cold light of day.

I've just ordered the same kit from Tinley tech, and thinking about it, the hardest part is finding the space to put the stuff! Get the mates round, ply them with beer, and invite suggestions. (Hide your tools though).
All the lpg fitters I have contacted have not answered my questions adequately , and on LPG Discussion Forum , I have not found a bad word about tinleytech, or Bigass!
I've had a BRC equipped outback for 3 months. Loved the savings, hated the whale.
Go for it! (But get flashlube!)

My Insurance company, Privilege, only allow approved LPGA installers for my car, so the DIY project is an issue. There is no difference to my premium. Non approved installer is not an option for them. I'm off to find LPGA installers in my area (South Central) who will work with the kit of my choosing. Anyone that knows me will know I'll still need the ability to tweak the setup using the kits software.

My broker- Tett Hamilton weren't interested in a certificate at all, but I sent them a copy anyway. The lpg certificate shoul be all that's needed. Doesn't matter who installed the system, but was it done competently?

I keep thinking about this, but also hope we may get E85 at a good price in the future and get mapped on that, I will keep my eye on this conversion as if the fuel keeps rising may be the only future our cars have.
