Default Subwoofers - Further Up The Chav Scale?

Right it's late and my friend has just helped me fit 2x 12" subs in the Impreza. They're not desperately loud, which I like, and give a smooth clean sound, which I also like. I have what I consider to be relatively little boot rattle outside too, but I have sound deadening to lay tomorrow.

Sure they're a little heavy but my car (view my scooby) is no lightweight racer anyway.

Now I've never had a sub in a car before and what I really want to know is are subs in Scoobs bordering on chavvy? Opinions sought please.

depends on what you use your car for really, i'm sure thers a lot of people on here will say its chavy and others won't. at the end of the day as long as your happy with it then thats all that matters

Don't understand the chav link? Do you like your music and bass then go for it.

Whats next people thinking blitz loud exhaust note is chav?

I have a 10" sub and it's because both my neighbours have young kids...

So can't listen to loud music at home anymore.

Not chav unless it's rubbish and played loudest sat at the lights.

IMHO

A sub can play the frequencies your normal components can't, so it definitely adds to the music experience, even if you're listening to classical music.

As long as it's not overpowering the rest of the speakers (e.g. 1000W RMS sub with standard front end), I don't mind. Then again, some people like it that way, I guess, so each to their own

I've got an 8" arc audio sub... Too small and quiet for some, but to me it's nice and warm sounding and doesn't take up that much boot space either.

I have 2 X 12 inchers in my car, well three when I'm sitting in there too.

As said only chavvy if windows down at the traffic lights with it on full blast.

Ive got 2 8's built into the floor behind the passenger seat and it sounds fantastic without being stupidly loud.I find that it really enhances the sound no matter what type of music you are into. Also doing it this way i still have a completely empty boot

Mate the quality of audio you have does ot make you chavvy at all.

Its not as if you're sitting outside the local high school at kicking out time with your windows down and stereo at full tilt with some gangster R&B on the go is it?

Or maybe you are... which makes you a propper chav lol

I have an Infinity Bass link in spare wheel well, it comes with a separate volume control so it doesn't boom...it just makes your stereo worth listening too

If you drive round your local town centre at kicking out time with the stereo up and the windows down, then you are a chav.

It's not what you have, but how you use it that counts.

ps. here's mine:

Spare wheel well is currently full of amps, but seems I can control the volume of the sub from the HU.

I've seen your install on here, top marks for originality. Yer I think I know what you mean, it's not like I'm rocking other people's car with the noise.

Cheers DunxC, that seems to be a common opinion here. And I hide behind tinted windows at the lights anyway.

I did think to myself last night how long before someone used the 12" gag . How'd you see over the wheel then being so short?

I swear that's the same model of Sony autochanger I had in the P1 when I bought it. According to the Sony doc I found on the internet, it was made around 1995! It's currently in a bag in the loft together with the HU.

My Scoob came with a subwoofer+amp fitted. I'm not sure about it really, it's the first time I've had a car with this type of equipment and I tend to find it's a bit too loud for me. If I have music on loud in town, I find myself turning the sound down out of embarassment as I don't want to sound like some teenage bass fiend in a Corsa...

I've thought about removing it a few times; it takes up quite a bit of space in the boot too...
