now the question i have is this,i have the 3 plug ecu at present and wanted to know if i was to just get hold of an sti ecu with the 3 plug would this be ok to do a straight swap over or would other things need to be changed as well. the engine is on 124k so dont want to start going down the big £££ route untill this engine is dead.any advise or info welcome.thanks.

as long as you can get an sti version that fits it will be pretty straight forward but........... you dont have the supporting mods an sti has i.e diffrent turbo, injectors, etc etc so you might be owrth wile just moding yours and getting it mapped if possible .

Dont bother with an STi ecu its a waste of time!
You cant remap your current ecu so your gonna need to swap it for something like a Gems, Apexi power FC, Simtek, Link etc, that way you can get all the settings i.e ignition, fueling, air etc just right.
