Having seen the number of recent posts involving car-jacking, thieves etc. I thought I let you know about a case where the systems worked (for once).

Early Thursday morning my girlfriend came out of her travel-lodge room and loaded her suitcase and computer bag into the back of her car. She then locked the car and returned to her room to get her coat and hand over the room key to reception. As see came back out into the car park she was shocked to see somebody unloading the back of her car. She shouted and the thieves jumped into their waiting car and the driver sped away. Fortunately my girlfriend was able to take note of their registration number, and she immediately phoned the police.

Within a couple of hours the car had been spotted by surveillance cameras at a motorway services and the culprits arrested. My girlfriend had her property back by the end of the day, but more satisfying was learning that these particular scum, who the police believe have been responsible for a large number of thefts from cars in the local area, are busted.

Nice one, Kev. We need to hear about a few more police successes, before we lose faith in them completely.

I had my briefcase stolen (left car ten minutes, smashed rear window - should have put in boot I know, but forgot). Loads of grief for me, and they managed to get shops to accept about ten of my cheques. Nobody could give a toss - police took all the details, did nothing. Surely those cheque transactions could have been followed up? Bank not bothered either - just credited my account. Easier to just shove up the interest rates, I spose. Gits.

Richard.

It's all very well rejoicing in their capture but if you can follow through to sentencing things may not seem so good!
