In the national papers today Richard has warned Subaru that he will leave at the end of the season unless the MY01 WRC is on the pace straight away.

It is reported that the MY01 has suffered difficulties in practice including a number of engine failures.

Richard has signed a letter of intent to drive for Subaru in 2002 but with a get out clause if the car is not competitive this season.

The good news is David Lapworth has said prodrive have identified the engine problems and will have the sorted for the Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo starts Friday so we will have to wait and see.

The press can create either story from the same letter signing which will be standard in almost all drivers contracts if their managers are any good.
