What do you use to get tar off your pride and joy without scratchin it?
Local council in all their wisdom decide to re-lay a perfectly good road by puttin a bit of tar and chippings down which stays stuck to the road for all of 2 days before it attaches itself to the car!

Get it from Halfords and elsewhere. Takes glue residue off sticky tape and the likes as well.

Try WD40. Sounds daft but it works better than all the tar removers i've used. Just spray it on and leave it for 20-30 mins, then wipe tar off with a damp cloth. Obviously wash the car afterwards though.

Argh dont do any of the above.

Infact the WD40 does work to be honest but dont even do that

Contact your local Autosmart rep and hell deliver you a can of Autosmart Tardis.

Spray on and after around 90 seconds the tar will simply begin to dribble off. All you need to do then is simply wipe.

In certain cases it may need a second spray of tardis but it is a great product.

i used to valet cars many many years ago mate and thinners is the best to use, soak a piece of mutton cloth and just rub into area. it will not take the paint off the car unless its sprayed with an aerosol can!!

why go through all that when you have a product made for the job which is absolutely brilliant and costs very little for the amount you get, o and delivered to where ever you are

ive always used a bit of petrol and an old cloth brings it straight off.

Normal Sunflower oil like you will find in your kitchen, this will get the large amounts of Tar off and then for the remains Tar and Glue remover.

I find the mesh on the back of the mitt is good both for dead insects and tar, isn't that what it is designed for?

yes and no
Yes for dead bugs on windscreen and headlights, under the sills etc

No for using it on tar on the bodywork as it scratches, but hey its your car and do as you like

I used to work for a romany tarmac-er and we used to use............ wait for it......... Baby Oil!!

Yep seriously, the BEST thing I have ever seen for removing tar.

I once had to clean a 7.5 tonne truck that the tar pump had exploded over and I used nothing else to clean it with than baby oil. (Woman in Tescos thought I was odd buying all the Baby oil they had, )

It desolves the tar as soon as it touches. Little bit on a cotton wool bud and gently rub and off it comes.

Brings plastics up a treat too, but doesnt last too long...........

Give it a go, you will be surprised.

Go to your local Unipart centre and get some TFR (Traffic Film Remover), its made exactly for.......getting tar off.

And it works.
