Default Quick fix exhaust bung noise reducer

I am thinking of making some sort of quick fix bung for my H+S, rather than the usual screw in/out type.

It would consist of some sort of heavy duty clip fixed to a make shift bung that simply clips onto the end of the tail pipe.

This is basically to fit on occasionally if I were to come home in the early hours and I could simply clip it on a short diatance away. It would not be used to drive any distance.

Any thoughts?

Only ask as normal bungs can be quite a pain to put in and out both dirt and fitment wise. An external fitment would be easier for what you are describing. My bung is a pain to put in unless the exhaust is warm. Maybe if the nut was attached to the innerside of the bung you could fix it in reverse ?

It take me about 10 seconds to fit my bung. Pop it in, align the holes, drop a machine screw in. Never comes out when driving.

(Which is weird, as i had a machine screw and nut on it and the nut untightened, the screw jumped out and the bung blew out)

Can anyone tell me what bungs you are using as I need to get one urgently.

Any advice on where to get one would be useful as well.

Cheers

I am currently fabricating one that I can simply fit in/out of position when required. This is not something that can be used when driving hard though.
Manufacturing and road tests are currently underway.

It consists of a large bean can and crocodile clip.

Mine has three nuts that screw from the inside and push out (no holes to align) takes 30secs to fit and kills loads of bass from the exhaust note. Takes no longer to remove.

(I'll take a pic later) mine was made for me.

Great for rear passengers as they can now get to the destination without bleeding ears.

I used my protoype exhaust bung this morning and it really did quieten the boom down.
When I got to the top of my road I simply unclipt it, so it works just as I intended.

Mines very similar except it screws from inside out ( so I don't have any holes in the exhaust) and the centre pipe doesnt extend pass the baffle (too dark for pics now !) Sprayed mine black also. Mine is much thicker metal and weighs a ton!!

Cheers bootsy I owe you the money now I remember !!!

i got one from H&S this week, i paid £50 inc postage for what looks like a steel funnel, simple as that, nothign more nothign less. I was expecting something fancy, but it simply takes the 5" back box down toa 2" pipe and then sticks out of the back box a little too much for my liking

i'm not sure what to do at the moment, send it back or try and mod it or just put up with it ??????????

it doesnt make too much of a diff either, simply takes a small amount of bass from the exhaust note.

not too sure how it will perform on long runs on the motorway either which is what i was after.

Pics

(Ignore the finish it needs rubbing down this was just a test! Going to be spraying it with BBQ black as it's heat resistant to 700oC ... which is nice ...)

Can be pushed in further to be more discreet this was for photo taking !

The only hole in the tailpipe is the one that is already there (Silver bolt in picture), that is standard on the Blitz. I added the other two internal ones to stop the rattle from the bung, it works a treat.

Lets see some pics of yours too bob r...
