Salesmen who take advantage of women?
#1
(soz for the long rant)
Well I wouldn't call myself the most pc person in the world (I still hold doors open for women etc ) but what is it with sales ppl? My girlfriend phoned up to get a replacement part (lense from twinlamp conversion) for her car the salesman took her order and she thought that was job done...
5 mins later he phones back and says you can't order the part serperatly and she'll have to buy the whole cluster "£200 to you madam" at which point she goes.. er no way I'll put the original ones back in.. then he starts to give it the salesman magic "It will increase the value of your car and I'm letting you have the part at a greatly reduced rate" blah blah then he drops the great clanger "I used to be a car salesman I should know". Thank god she decides to put the phone down and try some other places. She then phones the local company (part of the same dealership) and orders the part (no problem) except they dont deliver.
I then drive and speak to the guy there who says.. er yes you can and there depo she phoned has 7 showing in stock
Is this just a case of llama salesmen or someone trying to take advantage of her?
Any other women / other halves found that?

I sent two 17" wheels with my wife to a well known tyre dealers to have new tyre put on, when she got there they told her to bring them in! so she carried them in (she is only 5ft 4" and under nine stone) they fitted the tyres she paid and then had to take them back to her car on her own again!
She also had the same 'you'll have to buy the complete unit' speach from a parts department until she phoned me on her mobile and handed it to the guy so I could have a 'word' with him. All of a sudden the part appeared seperatly on the computer!
So I have to agree sometimes salesmen do try and take the ****

As a chicky, I have people trying to pull the wool over my eyes ALL the time! It's a known fact, if a salesman gets a female looking for something normally considered as a 'male' product, then that salesperson will do their best to increase the sale assuming the chicklet is completley stupid! This is why I always research stuff and get loads of advice BEFORE I phone the company, and then when they try to get me I tell them to shove off and also what I think of them. I'm proud of your other half for being strong enough not to listen to them!!!

It’s a real shame that there are still so many Arthur Daily’s about these days.
It gets to a point were you don’t want to own a car because of these Idiots, thing is there are people that take pride in there work and these Idiots just spoil it all.

Only last week a good friend (Motor technician) of mine was telling me the lengths that some "greedy" fellow car mechanics goto to get some extra ££ for themselves eg.
Pouring oil onto the suspension coils and informing ladies that their suspension needs replacing....commission time.
Apparantly the motor trade is one one of the best places to get ripped off.

I used to run a car parts shop and had dealings with garages, mechanics, suppliers etc etc for a number of years. Some of them admitted to me that they would rip anyone off if they appeared clueless This (they said) applied generally to females & old people
One of my biggest customers was a branch of a chain of 'fit it while you wait' type of place, the manager of that place thought it was really amusing to rip off unsuspecting customers of his, in fact he admitted that he trained his staff to do the same. I was in his office one day when a young woman driving a Fiesta came in with a blowing exhaust, she needed a new backbox, they told her the whole system needed replacing, she just accepted what they said
I saw similar stuff happening time and time again to people, it makes me sick it really does. Mechanics used to brag to me about how someone had bought a car in for a set of front pads and left with new discs, calipers, shocks and god knows what else.
I even used to supply a local main dealer of a well known manufacturer with cheap, bottom of the range pads and discs etc that they would fit to customers cars then charge them for genuine parts
I'm so glad I spent a long time working in the motor trade as it wised me up to all the little cons that can go on, which as a female I'm particularly vunerable to. I'd just like to add that I never ever ripped any of my customers off and made a point of being particularly helpful to women, older and less knowledable people, directing them to good, honest garages and arming them with info before they went.
For all its bad points tho' I really enjoyed working in the motor trade and could see myself getting back into it at some point, sales at Prodrive would be my ideal job!!!

My good lady took her Micra in for a service at a well know car and bicycle outlet. Got told something needed replacing because it would affect her power steering if it wasn't changed. Interesting that, seeing as her car was the basic model and didn't have powersteering
Needless to say, she refused, got the car out of there quick sharpish and down to a local family garage that serviced it with no problems
Then I forced her to buy my Puma so that I could get a Scoob
EDIT : Removed name of garage...oops

Sounds like TSL that does
Well not the bragging bit anyway.....the amount of times I've read/heard....I only popped in for <item X> and ended up getting <items X, Y, Z, the rest of the alphabet> Not quite in the same vein but who can resist spending when it's all there
