...how can the M3 come behind the scoob? A cynic may wonder why the launch of the STi coincides with the BBC Top Gear award.... but I aint a cynic of course

Cos the M3 hasn't got it, in fact it just hasn't got enough power! errrm. ... ... . I don't understand that one either.
M3 is not as much of i drivers car i guess, despite being ridiculously fast. Maybe Johny H couldn't drive it ( much harder to drive ) and lets face it when was he ever known for saloon cars.

Was it on TV? Musta missed it.
Beautiful fab engine in the M3. Understeered terminally on Pembrey track when I took a convertible M3 'round a few years ago though. Killed it for me. Booting it just didn't work. Ohh for that NA engine in the Scoob though, and the 30 mpg!

My mate works at a large BM garage in Leicester and reckons the M3 is a good GT and feels it hasn't got the chuckability of the Scoob. Possibly the smooth power delivery of the 6 pot and the weight of the car??

Isn't it funny how we all jump to the defence of our precious scoobs when someone from the RS forum gives them a slating, but when they actually get voted top drivers car we all wander about scratching our heads!
I must admit to being (pleasantly) taken aback by the verdict after reading certain reviews of the Sti UK, particularly in the latest edition of Autocar. Not to say it isn't a great car, just shows that not much else excited last year!
£50,000 price limit!! Talk about removing the opposition!

Quick question.
Were both the blue scoob they showed in the line up, and the black one that Herbert drove, new STI's?
M3 - bit short on power? Hmmmm....... Scoob - 280 brake, 4 wheel drive.... M3 - 300+ brake, rear wheel drive... hmmm (not talking handling here )

hmm, not convinced it was UK spec STi, as they just said Impreza STi.
Plus how can they give an award to car that's only just been released?
did look like murray and johnny were having fun though. I liked johnny's reply when murry mentioned getting a discount on one, johnny said "I'm interested!" let's hope he gets one, could prove fun on a trackday!

I seem to remember them saying type UK when it was first came on. Probably that really bad scrabble joke. It was a surprise that it won but then they did vite the £50k Range Rover as car of the year. Who can afford one of them?
