Default Fuel economy computers in cars....can you wire up a Subaru

I have driven cars where the fuel computer gets most of my attention when driving to see what economy i'm getting, now i know that fuel economy and a Subaru do not go in the same sentence , BUT is it possible to fit a fuel economy computer or can you get an add on that will take a feed from the ECU to display these figures?

or is it something that has to be designed into the car ??

Just wondering
Chris.

Why would you want the depressing news of less than 15 to the gallon lol.

Id rather not think about it. Let alone be riminded the entire journey lol

A lot depends how you drive. Over the 3 years I had mine I averaged 22 mpg for a tank full. Best was 34mpg and worst was 9mpg.

That unit has features like displaying boost, intake temp etc and can display fault codes and the option of ecu resetting.
Looks better than the psi3 thing as well.

They are fairly cheap on ebay, and this guy does discounts:

ScanGauge II OBD 2 Scanner Tool Trip Digital gauge scan on eBay, also, Diagnostic Tools Equipment, Garage Equipment Tools, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 17-Jul-08 15:39:11 BST)

I've just aske the guy about discounts, will let you now.
I like the mpg function, but mostly want it for it s ECU fault find and resetting abilities.

"Works On all 2000 or Newer Vehicles
Including: Gas, Diesel (compatible from 2004 or newer), Propane and Hybrid Vehicles. Compatible with some vechicle from 1996 or newer"

Does that mean i have to take the gamble and see if it works on my99

this looks good, does anyone know if it can display afr as this would be useful, the mpg function doesn't worry me though as I don't really want to see it, but would be great to show boost, afr, voltage etc seems a cheap way of getting a neat set of gauges.

Hmmm, response to discounts was:

We are sorry. the price on ebay is already too low.
Yet the ad says to ask for a discount.

I have one for sale if you like guys, i ended up getting one and then found out that the Simtek ECU in my car bypasses the ODB port so it wont work with my scooby

So it's £110 + postage if anyone is interested.

Cheers
Chris.
