Default attention to those with the steering rattle 05 sti>

I have just spoke to a subaru specialist regarding the rattle that some members are getting on there 05 on sti's when cornering over rough ground, the advice recieved is something i hav'nt looked into as yet,so fingers crossed could "maybe" cure the problem

The advice given was to check contact between the "downpipe" heatshield and the steering column when on lock,so im gonna see if i can remove the headshield and take the car out for a 5 minute drive, and see if this cures the issue

anyone any thoughts on the above,or experienced similar issues/cure

cheers marcus

i had a vibration through my accelerator peddle while turning, took it into my main stealer and the man said it normally makes your steering vibrate, low and behold new pipe fitted under warantee and no vibration. the heatshield welds give way, when not hot put your hand under the turbo and find the uppipe, my heatshield just moved about

Hi Markus,

The noise on mine(MY07 Spec C) definately, isn't the sort of tinny noise you'd get if it was the heatshield hitting the steering column. Mine sounds like the actual knucle on the column vibrating. However good luck and keep us posted.

Best regards,

Ian
