I've just spoken to a dealer about a 1998 turbo on an S plate, but he is saying it is the MY99 (eg. deeper chin spoiler with a single vane, 215bhp, upgraded brakes, etc.)

So is that possible, when were the first MY99 cars registered? Can you have a 98 'S plate that's a MY99?

The MY99 came out approx Oct 98, likewise the MY00 available approx Oct 99 and MY01 available Oct 00.

Yup October. MY99 has subtle differences to the previous model which are listed in the SIDC FAQ.

I got MY00 in November 1999.

The MY01 I have now was registered December 2000.

 

I've got a Dec98 MY99.

A few improvements on the MY99 as I understand them:
4-pot brakes, improved reflector type headlights, 215 bhp (previously 208), redesigned front spoiler c/w orange plasticy bits.

One of the most obvious diffs between the MY98 and 99 is the new front bumper and bigger spoiler.

I have seen a few MY98's that were registered in early 1999..

MY99 had different(bigger)front bumper, bigger spoiler, Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser as standard, revised cylinder head increasing bhp to 215, improved suspension, improved front brakes(4pot), vented rear discs etc.. oh and it had a big sticker on it saying Jerry* wants one and can't afford one yet !! Bu99er !!

Mine should be for sale soon (insurance dependant at the mo cos it's probably going to rob me rotten ) but for an MY00 PPP with LOTS of security it will be worth it for the price ill be selling her for (as i think ill loose a little at the dealers )

MY OO got colour coded door handles and mirrors, map reading lights and dash a la RB5. Also special MY00 wheels and errrr anything else?
