Also Milllers Octane Boost, in the Boot if you can't get 97 MINIMUM!!
This lot sell it for just over £4 a shot if your in the Midlands.

i used to use either tesco or shell could'nt tell the difference only i seemed to get more mpg to tesco's, i haven't used tesco for a while now. although i've got the 5p off coupon so i might have to pay them a visit

On Tesco 99 my car gets slightly more mileage and is very very smooth. I have run the car on V Power in the past and this would certainly be my next preferred choice but it's Tesco 99 for me. Never heard anyone talk too highly of BP ultimate or Esso Supreme. Would definitely suggest Tesco99 or V Power.

Cheers guys. Do any of you use the octane boost that Alan was talking with standard unleaded if you cant get to a garage with anything else? Oh this is the longest week of my life waiting to go and pick this up!

sorry mr-ra and alan-mac, your both wrong
v-power is an average of 98.6ron, whereas tesco is an average of 99ron, but with more of one ingredient than v-power.
talk about my half arsed argument

Thanks for the accuraccy Andy
The Millers Octane Boost is good stuff.
At £4.11 a bottle INC VAT that's a good price. (unless anyone knows better)
THey also do Mail Order.
I always have a bottle in the Boot incase I cant get Super.

Err no. Actually it was Optimax that had an average 98.6RON in testing, after 10 samples were taken from Shell garages all over the UK. V Power is a proper, designed-from-the-start high octane fuel. The Tesco stuff has just bio-ethanol added to it to increase the RON rating. But having a high RNO rating doesn't automatically qualify the fuel to be any good. Calorific value and burn rate are also important, of which the Tesco stuff has fairly fast burnt rate which is not something that is wanted from a fuel when trying to dial in extra ignition.

if that makes sense.

I ran my 02 STI on Vpower for ages and evenually had enough Shell points for a Ferrari polo shirt !
Recently I tried the Tesco 99 or Greenergy 99 as its been known and the car feels so much smoother and better performance than Vpower....so I think I will run a few more tanks of Tesco fom now on
currently at £1.23 a litre in sunny Milton Keynes

I find that i get less miles from Tesco 99, than V Power. Something to do with calorific value or something???
Anyway, both good fuels. I've also run mine on Esso Super, and BP Ultimate. Didnt notice any untoward results.

Always run my remapped 03STi on V Power. Pat at SC reckons its the best due to the way it atomises. (Tesco 99 second and a no no for Ultimate).
Interestingly Shell had a technical team blitz my local station trying to persuade people to try V Power in any car on the argument that such an advanced fuel will result in better running and improved fuel consumption. I have put two tankfuls in my bog standard 10yr old 1.25 Fiesta runabout and fuel consumption has risen from 46 mpg to 51 mpg so doing this actually pays for itself.
