Oil Advice
After some advice regarding engine oil.
I have a 2001 UK300 with PPP which has just passed the 80,000 miles mark. Only had it a couple of weeks and Im going to be doing an oil and filter change on Friday.
Which oil would people recommend for my car at its present mileage? I do a lot of town driving, short journeys etc if that makes a difference?
I am able to get Mobil 1 oil at a discounted rate through a friend so would be perferred.
Any advice appreciated

Hi you should give them a ring at OPIE OILS they will recommend exactly what you need. I use Mobil Synt s 5w-40 Superior performance fully synthetic and it has been great in my 2006 STI, Or just Google Opie oils and have a look.

Mobil 1 is very good oil, so you won't go wrong with that.
Best grades are 5,10 or 15W/ 40,50 or 60 or any combination.
I would normally go for a higher grade for a higher mileage, but a lower grade for mainly town driving. So, try the lower end, but check the oil regularly (you should in a Scoob anyway!)

Chris,
I have this Fuchs TITAN SUPERSYN 5W-40 High Performance, Fully Synthetic, Engine Oil in my 06 STI. It was 5w-40 as recommended by Opie and better than the Castrol Magnatec the dealer was going to put in. Dealer was also happy to use the Fuchs in my service to, so it must be ok. Oh, and GSF seem to be doing it for a very competitive price if you have one near you.

Should be ideal. Your handbook probably recommends 5W/40, although most dealers put thicker stuff in, especially if the car is modded.
Many engine deaths in Scoobs are caused by low oil levels, so check it every week and before any long run.
