Can you please tell me if the new WRX is much bigger than the old turbo. My predicament is my garage. My current Turbo fits in ok but it can be a squeeze getting out of the thing if I don't position it right. There is enough room if I get it right. I have checked the brochures and the new WRX is only 40mm wider, but it looks bigger than that to me I know it will go in the garage ok but what worries me is that I can't get once its in !
My main questions are
1: How thicker are the doors compared to your old Turbo (thats including the trim / armrest etc)
2: I assume the measurements for the brochure were taken at the widest part of the car, ie the part where the front wings bulge out. If this is the case then I think there will be enough room to get out. Please help, this could be the difference between me buying a new one and not

 

All I can tell you is that I have a new MY01 WRX, and a standard size single garage.

It fits just fine with a bit of manuevering. I can only get in/out on the drivers side and the nearside is fairly close to the wall, but I guess this is the case with most garages these days.

PS- This is one of the lamest excuses I have ever heard- GET OUT AND BUY THE MOTHER!!! ;-)

I parked by a WRX yesterday, and it did look a fair bit bigger, but I've researched this a bit myself, as I have a very narrow driveway, and there is actually very little in it.

Why not ask your dealer to lend you one for a couple of hours

I did think of asking, do you think they would do that ?
I think the WRX is a bit of an optical illusion to be honest, as I said its the extra thickness of the doors that worries me. Whats the width of a "standard Garage" anyone any idea ?

When I took any of my test drives,one part was to get the car home & try it on:-

1.The Drive

2.The Garage

3.The Neighbours

Lets face it.If the dealer wants to sell the car, make him play ball.I had an Alpha Romeo brought 45 miles,then got it very dirty round some nice back roads.Salesman's face was a picture as the hedges seemed to get nearer & nearer on every bend.

Thats another good suggestion, I'll try and blag one for an hour or two though so I can test it without pressure of the salesman looking over his shoulder while I'm threading it into the garage

My WRX fits in my garage fine. The doors don't seem to need any more room than the Turbo did before.

Van dealers, though. My mate and I got a brace of vans - a Movano and a Boxer - from the manufacturers for a long weekend to, um, try out how they'd be for our motorcycle import business.

That try out was to the Nurburgring and back

Ask 'em - I'm sure if they think you're genuinely considering buying a WRX from them, then why not?

If not, I'd be tempted to go elsewhere.

PS A mate of mine many years ago blagged a Scorpio estate for a weekend 'test drive'. He was, in fact, moving digs. He had no intention of buying it, just needed a bigger car to shift his gear
