Default anyone realise a Huge Price drop on 03> STi's??

Was thinking to seling 53 reg STi today, but after spent 30 mins on autotrader I was shocked by the price drop on a Blogeye STi's. quite a few of them selling as low as 8.5k and with less than 35k miles!!!!!! PPP are going cheap too!!! thats worried me.....

Anybody wanting a big engined car (i.e 2.0l above) these last months since the fuel hike can get one to next to nothing!

As TX said the government has screwed us over left right and centre with tax on cars >01 and with the fuel as well!

Apparently, i've not seen the figures for the new Scoob, but the new EVO 10 in 2010 first year road tax will be 900 quid! You can bet that the new Scoob wont be far behind, and the regular tax rate will be 500 quid or so.

But... a smokey turbo diesel will cost about 120 quid.

The government calculators need fixing I think!
The answers dont equal the questions!

Traded my 53 STI with 68K on it for 8.5K 6 weeks ago. That was the best offer by a country mile. It isn't good out there

its a double-edged sword - when i come to sell my 330d in the not too distant future Im expecting prices to have dropped quite dramatically (price of diesel being ridiculous!)

HOWEVER, as i'll then be buying an STi PPP....hopefully will pick up at a bit of a bargin.

you need to expect the running costs will be higher than your diesel in every way

Why? Running costs for my Impreza are pretty low. Nothing goes wrong with it, servicing is very cheap, insurance is reasonable given the extensive mods and I get 300 miles from a tank.I've had diesels before and I've had more things go wrong with them than performance cars.

true - im only getting about 27 mpg in my 330d though and diesel costs more. Tax wise it is the 2nd to top band.

Insurance is gonna be big on the subaru though. And yeah servicing costs etc. It'd be nice to have the subaru as a second car to keep milage and servicing costs down but i think that'd end up more expensive / end up using the subaru all the time anyway.

How much do people think a 5 year old STI should be worth then? £8500 is on third of the highly inflated and never-paid list price. That is what it should be worth if you ask me. Cars lose money, get used to it.

I know what you are saying, but mine had cost me nearly £4K in the previous 12 months so I felt some pain LOL!

I think some of us remember year old cars selling for £1K less than new, those were the days LOL!

My friends got a diesel audi taxi with 275000 miles (will have more now) on the clock , same engine still going strong

Until impreza's become the choice of taxi drivers around the country you can tell me other wise

I don't care what your friend has got as it has nothing to do with the running costs of my car as I'm not a taxi driver

The OP has stated that he gets 27 mpg. With my fuel being cheaper to purchase then, fuel alone wise, mine is cheaper to run

And i dont care the twoddle your saying scoobynutta555

Well you said you had more things go wrong with diesels than high perforance cars which don't make sense to a sane person.

High performance cars get the crap screwed out of them

I love my scooby but im not going to be biased on the truth

Good for you. I suggest you re-read what I've said. I've had 3 Golf tdi's and all of them had things go wrong, notably, bushes and suspension issues. I'm obviously not saying that in general diesels are less reliable than performance cars are. Based on my personal experience the car I have now is more reliable than some diesels I've had. My high performance car doesn't 'get the crap screwed out of it', bourne out by the fuel figures I've mentioned.

I'm attempting to sell my 01 Wrx at the mo, advertised on PH and Autotrader for £4500. Only offer so far is £3500.

I know they're not exactly the most desirable Scooby to have but mine is a nice example and i'd hoped it'd still be worth at least £4200?

Am i right in thinking that as my car is a jdm model (2003 STI) it will continue to be taxed on the plg rate even after the gov backdates to 2001. I just gave it 12mths a few days ago.

There is nothing on my V5 showing CO2 emission figure. Where as my old 2003 STI (uk car) had a figure of 225 (g/km) and cost £210 to tax for 12ths. The JDM costs £185.

You are right. I take it it was imported pre 2005?

Yeah, it was imported in 2004. So JDM models have another plus point going for them now.!
