Default RB320 any better than 55 - 57 STi PPP?

Obviously the RB320 costs more as it is newer and will retain its value well because it is a limited edition. But is it any better than a 55 - 57 plate STi PPP or a WR1? Performance wise?

I have an RB320 myself mate and to me the balance of the car as a whole is better than the standard STI ppp. I've also driven the WR1 a few times (a mate of mine has one). There's not much in them but to me the RB came out on top....each to his own tho.

m8 the rb320 is more of an ornament than a car you would take on the road and give some beans as for the others its every car for itself you get what you pay for rant over

RB320! Best looking UK hawkeye! drives and handles better due to Prodrive suspension, better interior and spec if it's an upgraded one and it has Richard Burns associated with it.

It will always be a desirable car and will hold it's money better, due to being a special edition, however to be fair for almost 10K less at the moment you could probably get a similar car with the same straight line performance, however if it's within your budget I know what I would go for!

RB320 is a cracking car along with the WR1 both are goin gto be better than a STD UK STI, what you have toask yourself is a coupl eof things!

RB320 - £25K hawkeye 15K, the money saved could be used to mod the hawkeye and end up with a better car but come time to get rid i doubt you woul dget that moeny back where as the RB320 depending on how long you keep it will still hold its money

WR1 £15K - 04 STI PPP £12K. i would go for neither and get a 05 sti can be had inbetween the two i have driven one and a wr1 and thought the 05 was a betetr car wider rear track etc

all depends if you intend to mod, as thee is no point getting a rb320 if you are goin gto fit say AST's to it as you may as well do it to the hawkeye

imo of course

RB320 looks good and will hold it's value due to being a special edition. You can't modify a special edition if you want it to hold it's value though.

As to it handling better than an STI PPP... you only need some Prodrive springs (£200ish) and a fast road geometry set up.

Limited/Special editions are simply gimmicks to sell more cars. They have a few extra bits and bobs on that you can buy from your local Subaru dealer for half the price.

You're in danger of getting carried away. You've just upped your budget by 50%. When the RB320 was released a lot of people agreed that it was a lot of money compared to the standard car. If you are going to keep the mileage low and really look after it then the RB320 will, in percentage terms, be as good a bet as any Subaru, although that isn't saying much. Personally I would find a nice private sale Hawkeye for half the price and have a bit of fun with selective mods. Having said that, I wouldn't buy another STI, but that's another story....

It's another vote for the RB320 here - and yes I'm another owner

Suspension is the key difference between a standard STi and the RB - I've driven an 07 STI PPP and the difference is very noticeable. The RB also comes with 18" wheels as standard.

Yes they're not cheap and you could mod a car to get similar / better performance but it's certainly been rewarding for me. Residuals should be better than a standard STi which tends to compensate for the higher price.

Don't agree with scoobzie's comment though
