Japanese culture? Lucky Charm?
As title, anyone know anything about this?
I've had my car over 3 years now, it's been up on ramps countless times but I've never noticed this item I found today.
My car was up on the ramps at Revolution today, for it's cambelt and oil change, so I was having a nosey underneath, as you do.
Spotted a little black box attached to the chassis rail thing. Asked scruffy Glen what it was, he wasn't sure. No wires attached so not a tracking device. Glen gave it a tug, and we found it was only attached by a magnet.
Managed to open it up,
Look what was inside...
500yen
Anyone know if this is customary/lucky thing, or some little Japanese geezer was worried that he wouldn't have money to buy a pack of blobs it the need arose?

Money for the boatman!
Not sure if its the same religion but I heard of some cultures supersticious about taking a little money with them when they die to pay the boatman.
Apparently, they believe in a lake/sea/river of darkness(something like that) and they have to cross it to get to the afterlife BUT there is a boatman and you have to pay him to cross! Therefore, they makesure they've got enough for the boatman or they get stranded in the dark underworld!
One way of making sure you have it with you when you are driving like a loon in the Jap Mountains!!!

not a lucky charm, but the 500 yen coin is there as a just in case.
lets say you loose your car keys, you can get your 500 yen coin out and make a phone call to a few people so they can come and rescue you.
If your all finding lots of yen, then please feel free to pass them in my direction, I always need change when I goto Japan. Even if its just the 2600 Yen airport tax
