Default Why Are Women

not interested in cars.
I was watching an old fifth gear which had a subaru blob eye STi vs mitsubishi shootout,I thought I would record it on my sky box and show it to my partner, when she came downstairs from her bath."Emma" I said do you want to see what I recorded, "go on then" she said so I put the subie mitsi on, "not more bl***y cars" she goes "gawwwed".
This got me thinking are your missus interested in your scoobs, my missus won't even drive mine she is not interested, perfectly happy in her fiesta 1.6 ghia, she says its too fast for her!

Nope, my girlfriend doesn't see cars as anything more than something which gets her from A-B. When I mentioned to her recently that it was about time her car was serviced, she said 'Yeah, it has been smoking a bit recently'.

Turns out it had no coolant left at all! Seicento 'Sporting' BTW.

No, but it makes you the exception. Wish there were more female petrolheads like you out there, but I reckon 90% of the people on here are blokes.

We have quite a few women and so do other clubs...

When you go to the shows you can see the women with their cars
and a vast majority of them now are picking up onn technical knowledge and not just which end the shopping goes in

Personally, I can't drive as yet, but I do try and take an interest. I love our car, and have put some money into it, but as yet I cannot claim to be a petrolhead. I try to learn over time about cars in general, but I doubt I'll ever become any expert, but who knows.

Until funds allow, I will live with being ferried about by others, but I can't say I won't get the bug once I can drive. I've already changed a wheel for my Mam when she had a flat, changed bulbs for my brother, so at least there are things I can do that some drivers can't. I even checked fluids etc. for my Dad once, and found I knew more than him.

Not exactly impressive, but at least I try.

Perhaps it's just me........but your missus comes down from her bath, and when she hears this, she was probably expecting something perhaps a little more..............steamy

You can't blame her for not being very interested in a couple of car racing around a track.

My missus loves cars and my/everyones Scooby. Changes bulbs/lights unless too stiff etc and than man is called for.

As for driving it, once and once only. Shame she is no longer covered to drive it now, what a great excuse "sorry but it's illegal".

My girlfriend is a bigger petrolhead than me

She has two cars compared to my one
She has owned more cars than me
She drives like a nutter
She has been to more rallys and motorshows than me
All the model cars in the house are hers
She loves nothing more than to watch old footage of top gear

but she knows **** all about how they work

He he...sounds like me! I love my Scoob, (and I'm a Girl!) I find myself looking at it at every available minute like a love sick puppy

problem being I know nothing about how it ticks, hence why I joined Scoobynet to hopefully improve my non exsitant knowledge (can't get any worse!) But then I tell my husband 'Thats what you men are for, opening Jam Jars and showing us how to fix cars'

Maybe the thread should have been 'why are most women not into cars'.

My Wife owns a TT roadster... and will never hear a bad word against it.. and everything else is rubbish... even when I let her drive the Cayman she still thought her's was nicer..?..!

Anyway... she's now driven my new STI 4 times, and on the last outing she started to get the revs well in the boost zone...smiled like a little kid and said.."this is quite fun to drive isn't it"..

She has potential LOL

My wife loves my new wagon - first car she has genuinely taken an interest in . She loves the way we can leave other cars standing (when it's safe to do so of course - as too do the kids) and she loves the scooby wave - so much so she now waves at oncoming scoobies in her little diesel corsa - she desperately wants her own impreza so that she can do the wave without looking as mad as a hatter . She even sat and watched Police Intercepters with me the other day instead of big brother - that in itself speaks volumes.

I have always loved cars! I blame my brother though! It was either watch what he wanted to watch on tv as a kid or get beaten up! Ha ha!

My dream car was always a scoob and I couldn't insure a turbo so I bought a sport that looked like a turbo! Broke that up, sold it standard, waited a long 9 months then got my WRX! (Again, thanks to my brother and his help)!

Yes, I know bugger all about how they work but I have my brother on hand. I tell him what power etc I want then he tells me what to buy! It costs me a bomb but I work and own a house too so I dont care! It is my very expensive hobby!

Thanks Zoe I think

My wife lets me get on with it but she has never been in my car. I've had it 2 years nearly and she refuses to get into it because she says it scares her
