IMO 18`s are too big for a classic, im sure some here will tell you different though, 17`s are perfect

i went on a top speed calculator recently, put in all my gear box details, and wheel sizes tyre sizes etc, and with 17 inch wheels i can do about 150 odd mph, but if i had 50 inch wheels i could do 358 mph

back to the subject, as mentioned, 17s better performance, 18s fill arches better

17" for road / bling, 16" for track unless you've upgraded the brakes and they don't fit any more.

18" is too big.

From experience, 16"s are better than 17"s for driving on everyday roads.

If you want over the top, I have seen 19"s on a classic. Tyres were like rubber bands, and I've no idea what the ride was like.

agreed i much prefered the ride on my 16`s than 17`s TBH, if i could get a set of 16`s over my brakes i would go back in a minute

I liked the 17s but when i went back to the 18s i liked them more, the ride is harder but it felt like it turned in better. But the 17s gave a good ride.

16's will feel more comfortable cause they got more air in the tyre seperating the road from the car, like a big cushion

but they DO look too small on the arches

17's are the best solution, get some 45 profile tyres and the ride will feel alittle better theres a better tyre choice for 17's too

18's do look much better though has to be said

agreed 17`s on 45`s is a big improvement over the 40`s, i went for the 45`s over the 40`s as i couldent get R888`s in 40 so went up a size and they feel much better TBH

not sure what differance to handling bigger wheels make, it makes sence that on lower profile tyres your going to feel bumps in the road more but then on cornering the tyre will be more stable on the wheel .

17 ,40 215 will be slightly smaller overall than standard 16 50 205 for example.and 18 225 35 would only be 2.5mm bigger than standard not sure on availability or price of a tyre in that size is tho
