P1 or Blob sti ppp???

Hello people,
Right got a bit of a dilema, a nice one though.
As above, should i get a P1 or a blob sti ppp???
Both would need to be basically standard and would have to stay that way because of insurance.
Or and I know your probably not the best people to ask, should i get something else?
I need some space to move boxes around so a small 2 seater or kit car isn't practicle.
Ive got a up to £10500 to spend. It will be my everyday car, but I dont do many miles [5000ish a year]
I have done quite alot of research and i am aware of the possibility of an engine rebuild on a p1 which is probably the biggest factor against them for me.
The insurance on both is similiar for me and i think I'm right in saying they both do 0-60 in about 4.6 seconds.
What is the better car? ie most fun, cheapest to run, etc. [i know neither will be 'cheap' as such, but you know what i mean. lol]
I do like to 'drive' my cars and this would be my first impreza.
Anything i should know? Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Josh

I'd go with the Blobeye if its your first..... Mainly cos the P1 is an iconic model and I'd want some experience with Scoobies before I went for the more exclusive variations.....

have you had any quotes for insurance yet??
I reckon its going to be around £2.5- £3k at your age for either of these 2 cars!!
between the 2 cars though Id go for the blob eye sti , just because you here alot of problems with the p1 engines.

it does not need to be mapped , but some are as they will be modiflied ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
also a mapped car will have the correct fuel map for uk conditions
also make more bhp !!
also its not that much to rebuild a standard engine (£2k max), its only cost huge bucks when you rebuild with forge internals for big bhp (see my profile )

2k isnt that bad, thought it was nearer 3k.
Yeah they are quite old, thats another thing that makes me think a 2003 sti ppp is possibly a better idea. But they are sooo cool.

If it was a weekend car id say the P1 they are awesome.
but for an every day car it has to be the blobeye sti, more reliable and easier to live with for day to day driving.

i think the blob eye is the car for you, while the p1 is a gorgeous car its an old car. You might not have any problems with one but you say your concerned about repair bills which says to me you haven't got lots of spare cash lying around, who has. The blob is a great car(i am biased
and you did mention that you wanted to move boxes about, well the p1 only has 2 doors so might not be that easy to move things about. So imo the p1 is the car you want but the blob is the car you should get, but you will enjoy whichever you choosde that is for certain.

i had this same dilema a few years ago i had owned a 99 uk classic for a couple of years and wanted to upgrade,i just love the look of the p1 and everything else about it and went to have a look at at a few.but at the time they were costing quite a lot of money for a good one and as i liked the blobeye sti aswell decided purely because it was a newer car that i would go for that inastead.as i have owned the blob for a few years now ime glad i made that choice.

as P1 or sti, i think you've got to be prepared to have a few bills with the P1 due to it's age. if you've the wallet to keep it in tip-top order then go for it.
personally i'd take a newage over a classic any day, but that's just my opinion

It's got to be the P1 mate, if you get one that has already had an engine re-build then you should be alright. The running is as expensive as you want it to be, I still look at my P1 sometimes and still have to pinch myself thinking i'm dreaming. This is a picture of mine on the rolling road, this might make you decision easier
. If you need any advise when your going to buy one just give me a pm and i'll help you mate.

The P1 is a lovely car but....
Its over 8 years old, they have minor problems like mafs and a slightly dodgy map which doesnt like any bad fuel, so unless you get a modified one (remapped and has all the extras on like the Alcon 330mm brakes which will add a considerable ammount to your insurance) I would go for the Blobeye PPP car, which is a very good car, better built and stronger engines/gearboxes/clutches etc, will be younger and gets you more car for your money.
Blobeye all the way![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Are they very different to drive?
Its such a hard decision!!!!
with the blob sti ppp you appear to get slightly more for your money ie newer car build quality etc etc but the p1 will hold its value better.
I do really like the look of the blobs, but the p1 is a legend!
I think 'azz250478' may have summed it up in saying;
'So imo the p1 is the car you want but the blob is the car you should get, but you will enjoy whichever you choosde that is for certain.'
Why cant I decide, my brain hurts!!! lol.
