A WRC with 350bhp...ever heard?
#1
I read in an italian magazine of the existence of a limited edition of Impreza called WRC and sold in 200 ex.
The spec were 350bhp 2.2 litre monoturbo (!) , a 6 speed gear and a ceramic clutch.It hit 60 mph in 3.5 sec!!!!
I cannot remember any other spec at the moment as i read the article when i was waiting for my dentist...
It was a coupe old shape , blue mica ( it looked like a 22B,wonderful !)
DO YOU HAVE ANY INFOS ABOUT THIS MODEL?
I'm very curious about that
It's sound like an urban legend but i saw it with my own eyes!

in asnwer, I think this thread is based on the rumours before the 22B came out, and nothing more.
Testing of anders standard car by driven using datron timinggear did yield 3.8 seconds 0-60 for a jap 22B.
Idiot journalists reported that it had 350bhp because they dont understand low down torque.
It did have a nasty twin plate clutch, and it certainly was a wrc replica having big wheel arches ala wrc of that time.
And the uk is in europe so its kinda true, that and the fact taht wrc cars are left hand drive, thro in a bit of linguistic difficulty and confusion and chinese whispers (I call it the purple monkey dishwasher effect - simpsons) could explain the miunderstanding.

Dingy, what bike was that? I've done a Cerberra upto 135mph on a local dual carriageway on my ZX6-R J1, we then both backed off before it got silly! He admitted defeat gracefully with a smile and thumbs up and my bike only has 106 bhp and cost 5k new! Not bad for 170 mph and 0-60 in 3 secs or slightly over. May well be tempted to go to Santa Pod this year to take on any car who fancies it!!!

The car on the article was right hand d.
Couldn't it be the standard number(200 ex.) they have to produce when creating a "WRC" model (the rally one) ? it's my guess.
Anyway it wasn't a 22b as it came after...i really don't know , perhaps the got wrong informations.
Staying in bikes topic i fight with them every time i go to my country house (it full up there): A WONDERFUL AND AMAZING ROAD!!!! that i can run with closed eyes and i honestly have to say that i always win ; the road is full of corners like 2nd , 3rd gear and some 1st... they are very fast and they really go down in corners ,so i'd say they are not beginners, but probably they cannot reach their limit 'cos it's too dangerous on a common road, even if it's empty...
anyway any bikers has never beat my scoob.
Thanks guys!
Cico

Bravo,
you're wrong...don't forget that the best bikers in the world(just have a look at the world championship) are italian ! and believe me they run R6, R1 CBR 6/900 and stuff like that...also Aprilia which is italian too.

Another piece of useless-but-maybe-interesting information...
The fastest 0-60 I've ever seen on a standard road/car bike was 2.3 sec on one of the early Suzuki GSX1100Rs - probably about ten years ago. Long wheelbase, perfect balance of revs/clutch and wheelspin. MCN road test. Mind you, this was the best of several runs after giving the bike major abuse. It's always easier to do these things on someone else's loan test bike
I don't think even the latest and more powerful bikes can match this as the wheelbase is too short and they just flip or spin if you try too hard.
Can any car get near this?
Richard.

Cico I was taking the p!ss m8, I know the Italians make great bikes, all be it unreliable at times , but as for GP riders they are the best currently. I am no Barry Sheen by any means of the imagination but I would be very amazed to lose out to any road legal car in dry conditions when going out on a Sunday blast on the bike. Only time I feel a car would do better is on country lanes which are narrow, twisty and have gravel/mud on them after a rainy period. If you are beating sports bikes in your car I would hazard a guess they are not trying too hard or you belong on the WRC circuit!!!!
Hoppy I think the current R1's do it in under 2.5 secs. Not 100% positive but pretty sure, in case someone wants to correct me!
Also rsquire I would say that the Ford RS200 Evo was a pretty special and amazing car and that you would be hard pushed to find any road car to meet such a performance. If there were cars that could and affordable I'd love to have one thats for sure
