Default my impreza has suprised me this weekend

i managed to get 34.78MPG out of my car

TBH i don't normally care how much fuel the car uses......i just drive it how i enjoy and fill it up when its nearing empty but this weekend i went down south to see the family and as we normally take the 1.6 runaround on long trips i thought i would see what i could get out of the subaru MPG wise.

managed 33.5MPG on the trip down.
and 34.78 on the way back up.

circa 190 miles of which 90% is motorway or dual carriageway.
averaged pretty spoton 60MPH as there was a few sections of roadworks and the not motorway sections where 30MPH/40MPH streches

also had a boot full of the girlfriends weekend stuff....that must have weighed in a over 50KGs

i never brought the car for it econommy (thats why i have a second car) but i wasn't expecting nearly 35 to the gallon.

all in a 2003 STi with PPP

Jesus - I get about 240 miles out of my WRX on a full tank lol. And that's if I'm not misbehaving. Maybe 260/270 on a motorway cruise.

i take it thats filling it up from pretty much empty? and also is the type R a 60 litre tank?

if so then you would be looking at circa 22-23MPG for a normal run and 30MPG on the motorway.

if i had carried on as i was i could have got almost 400 miles to a tank. if i took it to the petrol light

(i used 23 litres to travel 181 miles)

I got 34 out of my 03stippp on a holiday trip to Norfolk last year, that's with the baby seat, 1 year old boy and loads of baby related stuff on board inc wifey.
I soon managed much less on an evening run to get a bottle of wine, leaving the wife and kid in the cottage

I think with the price of fuel at what it is now it is a waste to not use it to its full potential!

Bring on the single figure MPGs!

(Not really, i am 22 and can barely afford the fuel but do love every second)
