whats the last plate bugeye that you can get??
is it an 03 plate??
are there much differences between the wrx and sti??
are these cars better performance wise than the later blob eyes that proceeded them?
only asking as my bro wants a new car
currently has an MY00 classic uk turbo
he is unsure of what to get either an 03 bug sti. 03 WRX bug or a 54 wrx blob
has his car to part ex which is 3 owners mica blue, only 47k and is completely standard car wants to part ex that and has around the £5k cash to put down!

STI's are a big step up from the WRX in all areas, engine, gearbox, brakes...

Bugs and blobs are very similar mechanically, with the blobs having slightly more power and usefully lower CO2 emissions (at least in WRX form) - I think this puts them in a lower VED group. I think this is mainly due to slight ECU tweaks.

If you can get one, the STI of either type is a better performance car, although the WRX is still quick and a little more comfortable.

Can't be much, if any, in it. Parkers should have all the specs.

My advice is find a pre-increase bug WRX (pre 01/03/2001), lower road tax, and then add the usual mods....

Even tho' I have the STI !

The extra weight of the STI gearbox, etc is offfset by 265 bhp or 300 PPP.

Brakes are awesome, stiffer suspension is not as child friendly.

Obviously a exhaust & re-map gets around 340 bhp which is nice !

HTH

P.S. A well peddled WRX can usually keep up pretty well in real-world use.

P.P.S. a 2.5 WRX (hawk-eye) may be in his price bracket by now ! LOL

That's low miles, but I'm pretty sure you'll get a good bugeye WRX for < £5k. An STI will be a few grand more.

Not sure what you mean about tax? He will pay the same amount regardless of the number of miles he does.

should have put those as two seperate sentences
he doesnt mind about the higher tax for a new model as does few miles so can afford the extra outlay!
sorry!

52-plates were defo the last bugeyes. Have seen a few 52-plate blobeyes around.
Given the three choices you have mentioned, my personal choice would be the bugeye sti, completely different car to a wrx.
