Default Logbook shock

Im after a bit of advice,My wife purchased a 05 wrx from a main dealer 2 weeks ago.It has 23000 miles on clock,on the photocard on vehicle it said it had one owner from new 23000 miles etc.I asked the dealer if the 1 owner was correct to which he confirmed. So all was great however today we received the logbook which tells us the car has had three previous owners.I have contacted the dealer and spoke to the principal who is going to investigate and get back to me.I just wondered where we stood on this?cheers

A dealer telling lies, can't believe that.

Pass it all by your local trading standards office asap. They will either look into your case or at least give you plenty of advice.
This will also help,if it goes horribly wrong with the garage or even if the car starts to have problems as you dont know its true history(or certainly cant believe the history told to you by the dealership)

If you were told that the car had only one owner from new by the dealer, you have every right to return or ask for part money back. This is a verble contract and they broke it. Your car has now de-valued by the fact there are extra owners on the book. Dont take any excuse from them, just think if it was the other way around they would soon be knocking £££££ off you asking price. Good luck mate

can someone explain why number of keepers effects the value a lot? I realise if a car is sold on again and again there could be something wrong with it. However, how are 4 good keeper any worse than 1 bad one?

Three owners in 23k is a bit above the average and would make me a little wary. On the other hand one owner could be the supplying dealer. In general more owners means that the car is less attractive to a buyer, although may not alter its book value.
Now that you have the car I could take a good look around it. If you like the car and can find nothing wrong with it then ask the dealer for some modest amount of compensation (e.g. a free service).
If you are not happy with the car then you could probably get a refund. The number of owners quoted by the dealer forms part of the car's description (I assume you have this in writing, in an advert etc).

Yeah we have info on one owner on sales docs also by word of mouth from dealer. We didnt check v5 as this is 3rd scooby from main dealers and have never had any reason to doubt neither i must admit was it offered to us.the car itself is very good condition so no worries their. The car is under a 30 day 1000 mile no quible exchange guarantee as said have spoke to principal of garage at 9am who was going to investigate and get back to us but as yet hasnt which is concerning me as obviously when we were purchasing they were always on phone.

I'm assuming he has come back as adam obie 1 to vent his anger a year later, guess he took things too far and has been away at someone's pleasure maybe or have I misinterpreted something?

It could have had a private plate, that shows up as an extra owner for some reason, at least it did when I put a plate on my old RX8 which I knew I was the only owner as I bought it new

That must have been a **** up by the dvla because putting a private plate on a car does not add any owners to the log book.

I think you are missing the point, the original email is nearly a year old so the conclusion has been concluded but presumably by today's email not in his favour and he's come back to shame them.

But getting back to the point the dealer is in the wrong and should be named and shamed.
