Default Swimming pool in boot well

The other day I noticed a large water build up in the boot well, had cup it all out! I checked again today and it has started to build up again, has anyone else experienced anything like this? Just wondered if there are any common places to look for leaks as I cannot see anything obvious, I have an 04 Blobeye WRX...Grateful for any advice...

try checking the bolts to the wing, i had this problem on my 03 wrx and the garage changed all the boot seals and even smoothed some of the seams. before i noticed one rusty bolt in the outer skin. i did have he sti spoiler on it though?

try getting in the boot whilst a (good)friend sprays the boot with a hose pipe

I did have a quick look at the spoiler bolts but they look okay, Don't think I would fit in the boot to try the other idea

I had a bit of a leak on my previous Scooby, it was the seals between the wing and boot lid had somehow been snagged and pulled out to the side. The dealer undid the spoiler and reseated the seals, jobs a good'un.

A common place for boot leaks seems to be from around the rear lights, might be worth taking them out and re seal them when you put them back on the car, Another place is the boot seal, check it is sitting tight all around. Mine had lifted slightly in one place which caused a bit of a leak.

Do you not have a rubber bung to pop in and out in the well ?

I had this problem with my old bugeye, everytime it rained heavy or I used the jetwash, the carpets would soak up and the bootwell would fill up.
Had to soak it up with towels.

My problem turned out to be the poorly fitted spoiler.
Just check all the possible causes mentioned above, and failing that, get someone small enough to jump in the boot with a torch, whilst you use the jet wash on it to see where it's seeping in from.

1995 Classic - Boot leaks. Carpet gets soaked, carboard wheel cover sags and spare wheel well fills with water. Seems we've got most models covered here. Any Hawkeye owners with leaky boots??

same here on my old classic sport...

cause? Jet wash!

too much pressure for the seals to contend with.

stopped using a jet washer..no more water in boot sump.

Same problem over here on my WRX 54. (standard spoiler)

Had a new boot seal fitted - Still done it.

Turned out to be the rear light seals - Sorted

I've had rear light seals let go, but the worst culprit was the rear screen sealant that pinholed and water poured in. Trouble was, you can't see it easily, and it soaked the boot, rear parcel shelf and rear seats.

If your car's parked on a slope at home, try parking facing the other way. Works on some cars due to the position of drain holes.

+1.

My old 03 WRX had exactly the same thing.
I parked nose down on a slope and the water would well up in the corners at the bottom of the rear screen, then overflow and gradually fill up the wheel well by soaking through the carpet.

I parked nose up and it was cured. Boot took an age to dry out though after I pulled out the bung to let the water drain (see 53WRX/Stu's advice above), as the carpet was still sodden.

Did someone say they had the problem on an 08 - the hatch..???

Had the same problem with my Turbo 2000, My Evo 6 RSX and my Golf GTi Mk2. due to my drive having a slope. Always reverse my cars onto my drive now to stop this from happening!!!!

Hmmm, I'll have a look when it stops raining, lol

I reckon it's got to be the light seal's as it doesn't seem to be wet on the boot lid or anywhere else...

Thanks for all the advice folks

i had the exact same, needless to say i was very irritated when i had to take the water out. good thing my sub was not damaged. funnily enough i had an umbrella in there thought that would have helped

seems to be rear lights for me as i have a wagon and everything was dry on the top half of the boot area
