Really fancy getting a sti spec c 03 plate soon ish and was wondering what the guys with imported 03 plate sti cars onwards are paying for tax? Are most registered as PLG???

Many thanks

Tax is paid based upon date registered in the UK Massive rip off IMHO ...

Edit - so depends if you're buying a "new" imported MY03 or one that was registered earlier although new tax changes back to 2001 cars may mean that you're screwed anyway

Year of registration only relevant if the model has been officially sold in the UK and Subaru provided emissions figures (CO2 etc.) to DVLA.

A Spec C has different engine internals, therefore different emissions to WRX/STI, so I would expect it to be taxed as a PLG (Private/Light Goods).

This is certainly the case with my T25.

My old one was a PLG, pretty much all are afaik, the issue is when they are registered in the uk, before 01/03/06 and you get the lower tax because you wont have the co2 emissions on the v5, afterwards and unfortunately you do

What about when the Govt wind the date back to Mar/Apr 2001 though? Will Spec C owners tax go up?

Mine was reg'd in Jap in Dec 2004 & UK in Jan 2007 so I didn't get the PLG tax bracket Makes me as mines MY05, reg'd in UK in 2007 so attracts higher tax band even though "newer" UK cars have a lower one! Basically any performance car imported after Mar 2006 will get stung ... it's one of those shrewd / sharp practice things that the current Govt do & continue to get away with.
