How heavy is an engine??
I'm looking to add a Engine hoist to my list of toys, but can't decide if it's worth the extra for a 2ton model. (ie the extra reach at a 1ton rating)
My worry is if I get a 1 ton version I won't have the capcity when I extend the boom out. The biggest engine I would have to lift is a 2 litre diesel (unless I start playing around with Land Rovers )
I did see this
2 TON ENGINE HOIST/CRANE, LOAD LEVELLER, ENGINE STAND on eBay, also, Other Garage Equipment Tools, Garage Equipment Tools, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 14-Oct-08 21:45:45 BST)
Any suggestion welcome.

They are not that heavy, A bigger than average man can lift a short block, I think the total wieght is around 150KG for the total block. Don't forget the average car weighs around 1300-1500KG so the 2 ton engine hoist is more than enough.
