Should This Site Be Called "Scooby Net"??
Hello everyone.
A simple question really.
Should this Site be called Scooby Net
I have been on here for a couple of years and, have received advice & help & given it in return.
What I notice is>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Legacy Scooby owner asks for help>>>> advice from SN Posters, find the Legacy Site.
Forester Scooby owners>>>>>> there is a Forester's Site say the SN Posters.
I thought about it???
surely we are all Scooby owners, be it Imprezas, Outbacks, Foresters, Justys, Tribecas or whatever.
My perception is, this Site is all about Impreza owners & their Cars.
No one seems remotely intersted in helping another "Scooby Owner" unless it's an Impreza.
Maybe it's me, but that's how I perceive it.
THERFORE, my point is>>>>>if this is the case, why is it called "Scooby Net?"
Why not be honest and call it "Impreza Net?"
If I am wrong, then please Scooby Netters please post your thoughts and views.
Regards
Alan MaC

It's not even Impreza Net, it's Impreza "as long as it's a turbo one" Net.
It's also ironic that most post about legacys, foresters etc start off in "Other Marques"!!

Despite what people say, and whether you like it or not, the nickname Scooby applies to turbocharged Imprezas only.
People suggesting going to other sites are trying to increase the traffic on those sites, rather than being elitist/unhelpful because its not an Impreza.

That's interesting about it being Scooby Impreza, (as in why it's called that)
Do you remember a chap called Colin Mcrae. ??
Well he drove a "Scooby" and I beleive you called it a Legacy???
I think the point has been missed here, IS THIS THE IMPREZA SITE?? and if other "Scoobbys" are not recognise, why not be honest and call it the Impreza Site??
Regards

Case closed!
Despite the fact that the Yanks have been calling all Subarus "scoobies" since those pesky kids' first series.

Thank you Phil, excellent response.
As I'm trying to make the point, WE ARE ALL SUBARU OWNERS.
Think about it, if you were an Impreza owner and everyone ignored you & only recognised Foresters, how would you feel?
Regards.

I think Impreza owners must realise they are the common folk amongst Subaru owners. The other marks are much less prolific than the Impreza. The reason they send all queries regarding any other Subaru away is that they know they are not worthy to speak the names Legacy/Forester/Justy etc

The answer to the op's question
-------------------------------
If there are Legacy, Forester, Tribeca owners on the site then they should be offering the benefit of their experience and advice to fellow owners.
It sounds like the op is having a go at Impreza owners for not replying to threads that perhaps doesn't interest them or they just simply can't answer.
I take the point of the 'none turbo' charged Imprezas though. A 2L sport just doesn't float my boat tbh. Soz.

As a Legacy owner myself I enjoy reading this forum, I am enthusiastic about Subaru cars in general though. When it comes to advice about a Legacy, SVX, Tribeca, Justy or a Forrester or anything else however, it's not unreasonable to be directed to a more specialist forum. While a lot of the engineering is in common across the platforms, I wouldn't ask an Impreza driver about the twin turbo set-up for instance.
Let's face it, there's dozens of forums out there, no sense limiting yourself. I still feel included here and get acknowledged by Impreza drivers so I don't see it as a huge issue either way.
We can argue all day about where the 'Scooby' term was first coined and what it applied to but we all love the machines we drive so why make an issue out of it?
