As per the heading really, do any of you clever people know if the front seats out of the new 2008 STI model fit in a classic ? I've not yet sat on them but they don't look too bad, any opinions from those of you who have a 2008 model would be good too

They should fit straight in.
However, it's worth noting that Newage seats sit about 1-1.5 inches higher than classic seats, and if you're tall (like me) they make for an awful driving position.
I had STi8 seats in mine and couldn't get on with them at all.

The fronts will bolt straight in. The rear can be adapted into a 'Wagon but I dont know about a Saloon. I prefer Classic or New Age seats myself: they look alright in pictures but theyre not particularly impressive.

Made you feel like you were sitting on the car rather than in it (if you get what I mean)
That's why I switched to V-limited seats (View my Scooby <<<)

Agree they aren't that impressive in the flesh - well the low rent ones on Ebay aren't anyway.

Wow, just got in and have all the answers I need already, thanks for all the info. The thought of being higher puts me off to straight away, I like being quite low and snug in the seat and if they are not that great in the flesh thats probably why they go quite cheaply in compared with other interiors.. Is it the same of the STI bug seats, the blue and black suede ones, do they sit higher also compared with the classics as that will sort out that as well ? I only have the standard MY00 interior at the mo that is a bit bare in places

If you are talking about 2008 STI seats then the fronts don't bolt straight in to the best of my knowledge. Three of the four holes line up, the fourth needs a bracket making to connect the seat rail to the mounting point. Easy enough to do, just thought I should mention it.

As I understand it they (STI not recaro) are even worse than the previous buckets....

Now you mention that, I think that you need to use a bracket from the rear seats, but its extremely straightforward.
If you pm shaggy1973 he will be ble to tell you exactly what he had to do.

I have the stock seats in my 08 STI and I'm not that impressed, not a lot of support anywhere (lateral or on the base), maybe just me but I think I might consider an aftermarket set of some sort unless they are very cheap.

These arent 'stock' either, unless your STI seats are identical to WRX seats with STI embroidery. From what Ive seen I believe that these seats arent as good as standard UK spec STI seats.

When James collected his from Grade-A, we got the required brackets off some rear seats that they had laying about. As odd as it sounds, this small bracket allows the front seats to fit perfectly.

I think my UK 08 STI standard seats are just the WRX seat but covered in alcantara/leather and have the STI logo on, the alternative being the Recaro's right? Either way I'm not a fan of what I've got
But I guess if they fit a classic they would be better than nothing if what you are replacing has seen better days.

I thought so. The seats that Grade-A have are absolutely identical to '08 WRX seats (style and material), apart from the STI log which is embroidered onto the headrest. The seats that you have are much nicer.

Thanks guys for your input, its so easy to make the wrong decision when your looking at just pics, they don't look too bad on ebay but after listening to you I think I'll just hold fire. The basic MY00 ones I find pretty comfortable, I suppose one of the best and easiest things would be to get to more scooby shows/meets and see what others have used in their classics as a good upgrade..
