I would and may well end up doing so. That's not to say if the focus cosworth is 5 grand cheaper and does the scoob thing better I would'nt get one.
It's all about getting what you can afford to buy and run that meets your exact requirements. If an EVO is better VFM than a scoob, then i'll get one. If a cossie is the same i'll get one.
AT the moment the Evo is too expensive to run, The focus cossie does'nt exist, older cossie too unreliable with no warranty and other marques of car are either too slow or to expensive.
Of course if you earn more/less than I do then your requirements will vary.

I remember a traffic light GP with an RS2000 (I was behind)... he couldn't shake me, I couldn't catch him. They're great cars, when they're running right
As for getting another one... I'm from the dark-side (Evo 6), and I would happily get another 6... the 7 I'm reserving judgement on until I've driven it. Heard great things about the drive, but I'm not as keen on the looks (kinda like the MY02 debate ).
I'd also be chuffed as fsck with an R34 Skyline, or a P1/22B. Just call me Mr. Open-minded... heh!

i'd hav another...... but would buy a euro import and save ££££'s instead of a UK car next time!
I paid £16k (MY97) back in june '99.
for £16500 i could hav had a brand new MY00 dutch import!
you live and learn, don't you!?!

I'm of the same opinion as Neil I don't care who makes the car, it is just a matter of the one which is the best for me at a given time given the money I have available. When I got the Scooby it was it, now I need something cheaper, but when I have money again maybe an Sti or Evo, but that may change if someone releases something quicker, cheaper, better handling with 4wd.

If I was changing today then yes I would buy another one without hesitation, not a lot else on the market to compare it with.
In a couple of years time when I do come to change who knows what will be available, but a scoob will be on the list.
Would have liked to have owned an Escort Cossie, but unfortunately they were around before I could afford to own such a car.

I'd buy another. I'm happy with my MY00. If I were buying now, it'd be either the new STI or the EVO 7. I'd go check both out, test drive and decide.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

They are good - no doubt about it.
Would I buy another - no way. From my experience, their value drops faster than the proverbial lead baloon as soon as you drive it off the forecourt.
My P1 is 17 months old and even when trying to trade it in against another scooby (not that I really wanted to) I was offered around 50% or less of it's value when new!
Now I know cars depreciate, especially new ones, but not like that!
When you buy the car they tell you how special it is. What they don't tell you is that "special" cars are worth next to Rock All when you try and sell them.
Stick to the cossie mate. The P1 will be going in the next two months one way or another.
Regards
Kurt

Got to say, after 9 months of ownership, Im changing my mind. When I first got my MY01, I was NOT impressed at all with it. Crap build, crap comfort, no refinement, noisey... even the performance was a huge disapointment.
14k later.....
Its still crap build, crap comfort (compared to last car), refinement is still not there, its still noisey... but the performance...... well that certainly changed with a few k on the clock. It makes up for a lot of the other short falls, if not all of them.
Ive got another 24 months before I have to order my next car (subject to cicumstances not changing)... the only way I'd have another is if I can stomach the tax bill on an STi, or have PPP on another normal WRX. If I can't do that, then I'll probably head back to the Audi garage and get an A4 2.5 TDi Quattro, which by then will be putting out ~220bhp anyway. (so I hear)
I do like the car now, much much more than when I first got it, but unless I get more performance, ie the PPP or STi, then I can't see much point with putting up with the crap anymore. TDi performance is going through the roof atm, and if you still get ~40mpg, I can put up with the lesser handling for the sake of being able to hold a conversation on the motorway, not have to have the stereo on full blast and not have to put up with "tinny" build quaility.
However time goes on, so I might grow to love it more... but I doubt it without more ommppphhhhh.

I'd certainly buy another one.
A lot depends on your personal taste as well, not a great Ford fan myself, not a hate thing, just had some bad experiences with them.
On the other hand, my mate is a Ford nut, never known him have any other make. Lotus Cortina, RS2000, two and four wheeled saphire cossies and can't wait for the Focus to be togged up.
If he had his choice though and insurance wasn't so high in this area, now this will be of intrest to you IMATRUKAHS, the Ford dealership in St Ives, Cornwall have an Escort Cosworth Lux in their show room. I think they are asking 26000 for it. It was the second to last into the country, the owner of the garage bought it and kept it under cover since then, 800 miles on the clock, now there's one Ford I myuself would consider.

I'd buy another scoob in a while, quite happy with the one I've got for now. That said, I'd probably give an Evo VII a go if I could afford to buy/run one, like em much better than the VI, but then I go for more understated looks.
All depends on whats about and how much of a hole I want to burn in my pocket when it comes around to changing my current one

Just noticed somthing.......
NUMPTYSCRUB said hes got an EVO6, but said he had a blast against an RS2000 and couldnt catch it (but it couldnt pull away either).
ERRRRRR...... RS2000's are FWD 150bhp poop, not exactly EVO6 quality, whas goin on there???

Have MY96.. only had it for 8 months and I've certainly got the modding bug but would I buy another.. hmm tough question that (seeing as its atleast 18months)... I really dont know. I agree with tiggs life is too short but I dont know if I could live with less power now and with that much power 4wd is so sensible... I would certainly shop around but I do love my scoob

Had my MY00 just over a year now, and I still smile when I get in it. Buy another? Certainly, but I'm hoping the WRX has been facelifted by the time I'm looking to change mine (which will probably be a few years away yet). Either that, or I'll be spending a bit of money immediately to swap the spoiler, lights and those orange rectangular things on the front wings. Or I get enough money to afford a Sti

On my seconds MY96.... hoping to keep this one until it goes to the scrap yard, and before you say it, that is going to be a long time yet I would hope... as long as I keep it on the black stuff...
Might swap to something else in about 3 or 4years time... but you never know what happens inbetween but perfectly happy with the Green Monster at the moment. Probably be for something with more seats like a Landrover for transporting the family and a sporty little number for going to work... love an Elise...
The Scooby is currently the best of both worlds...
