Driving with your lights on
How many people drive with there lights on all the time ?
Since having my scoob nearly a year now i can rarely remember turning them off, since the lights go off when you turn the ignition off, something which none of my previous cars have done. It's nice not to be met by an annoying buzzer.
Plus coming from riding motorbikes i consider it safer to be driving around with the lights on all the time.

its law in some countries- sweden, slovenia etc.
well proven to reduce accidents.
I do here and there- again prob back to having volvos as first cars 20 yrs ago !!
must admit I'd bring back public hanging for people driving around with fog lamps on unnecessarily.
ususally put rear ones on when they come up behind me.

Read something the other day, its gonna be law within a few years to have lights on at all times.
Think all car manufacturers have been instructed to have daytime running lights as standard

I do a lot of the time just to make the car more visble and hence make people more aware I'm there and not drive into me, hopefully. Only leave them on for safety. I don't (well I don't have any front ones anymore anyway) and haven't ever used my fog lights during the day/night, unless it's foggy.

I think lights should always be on by law, how many times do you find on motorways when it's gloomy and pissing down that mister BMW/4*4 driver is doing 100mph up your **** and you don't see him till the last minute because his lights arn't on

There is a loss on fuel consumption, certainly on older cars which don't have smart charge etc. I don't like the idea myself unless there's poor visability. The EU want to make this law.
Bikes are different, but not on full beam IMHO.

Yet another case of having to enforce something for safety reasons because you can't trust people to think about it for themselves. Education and enforcement is the real answer, oh, no, you'd need more coppers out on the roads instead of in the station filling out 50 page forms for every offence.
On the continent, when it rains, people put on their lights, because that's what they have to do. If you forget, you get other motorists flashing their lights at you.

i always have my side lights on, as some have said from riding a motorbike when i was younger. If it helps reducing the chance of an accident then its only a good thing.

I only turn my on if I'm on roads were I can do 60+. Just a safety thing to make sure I'm seen, if it's good enough for the emergency services it's good enough for me (albiet not alternating flashes!).

never have put them on during day light.
Id hope people could see a bright red car!!
boosh: doesnt it drain the battery having the lights on as soon as you switch the ignition on? as you will be starting the engine whilst having lights on at the same time.
I always thought all electrics should be off on engine start up ? maybe its just older cars.

Always run the spec'C' with lights on. Dont think i turned them off much during ownership.
Different in the noble as have to remember to turn them off. notice a few times i left them on but only briefly. Only really put them on while pressing on tho.

Nope never have them on unless it's bad weather during the day or night time. Don't personally see the point. Plus the Pug doesn't switch them off with the ignition, and theres no buzzing sound either.
Very rarely use lights at all, only when getting pretty dark.

I always leave my sidelights on, but only so I can have the front fog lights on too...
Only kidding austinwrx, I only use the fogs when it's foggy (very rare in sunny Bris Vegas). I won't be using them ever again once the covers are bought and fitted.
