Is it an MY99 or MY98? I noticed in you other thread it's an S reg, so could be either. The brakes are very different between the two!!!

MY means model year.
Do your front brakes have SUBARU embossed on them?
If so they are 4 pots,if not they are 2 pots.

MY = Model year.
My Scoob was a Dec 98 S reg but was an MY99.
Off the top of my head the differences are -
*4 pot front brakes and vented rears as opposed to solid rears and 2 pots.
*Phase 2 engine which has an ECU which can be re-mapped. MY98 ECU can't.
*Updated front bumper.
*Fooked if i can remember owt else

oh right in that case its MY98 there is no writing visible on them but then they have been painted in some real thick cr@p so that may be hiding it

mine doesnt have the updated front bumper and has solid rears so must be MY98 yeah? are the ecu's interchangable or not? didnt realise the older ones couldnt be re-mapped

Ecu won't work on yours but you can go aftermarket. If i get another Scoob i wouldn't bother with the origional ecu, i'd just go get a simtek

Depends how much you wanna spend. People in your position often get the 4 pots off an MY99 as a cheapish upgrade

well not looking to spend loads of money but il spend decent money if you know what i mean. if i can get a decent set of discs and pads that wil work well with the original callipers il do that but if not then the 4 pots sound good. do you have to do any other mods to get them to fit or is it a straight swap?

The discs and 4-pot calipers go straight on, can be done in under an hour

Plenty on fleebay usually, and they go for 160-240

plus have a look at High Performance Brakes - Supplying AP and Brembo brake kits for road and motorsport use, he does kits to fit larger discs to those (and other) calipers, when you feel like it or have enough money.
