From reading up on hear the fibreglass splitters can split/crack if they come into contact with anything bigger than a fly.
HT Autos sell the P1 replica slpitter in an unbreakable plastic. I had one on my newage STI and it was very good for the money.
HT Autos also sell stuff on Ebay.

wel mines gone 3 times in the past but thats due to huge pot holes and multi storey car parks with lowered suspension, i therefore now only park on ground level!

A fibreglass one will break if you hit anything hard or at speed.
But also remember an ABS plastic one, is made from the same material as your front bumper.
Designed to cope with parking bumps, up to 5mph.
So if you hit anything hard or at speed it will simply break too.
