Hi,

spotted this today at Holding and Barnes Plc - Welcome Page. The safest hands salvage

Seen it in person and it has got a fair bit of panel damage and the suspension is damaged, i didn't have a look at the suspension closely as the ground was very dirty

I took some pics on my phone which i will post up later!

What a shame that was gorgeous. engine alone will be worth a few quid and isn't that the one that comes with the Porsche brakes.

How would you know you were getting all these parts by biddng for scrap online?

Assuming the engine is sound, that costs £10k+ alone!

Current bid of £4400, makes it a cheap project. I suspect it will sell for a lot more than that though.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like the roof is not creased and the doors will open and close.

I was down there today looking for a diesel astra workhorse and i had a quick look around the car. It is repairable, roof is not creased all panel gaps look ok. It will need driver's side doors, front wing, front bumper, driver's side headlight, rear bootlid, light, rear panel and rear bumper. passenger side rear quater panel may repair but would be easier to replace, it will need a pull on the boot floor. The rear drivers side wheel is slightly out (probably a whishbone, same with the front driver's side wheel)

The engine bay is spotless, if it the price doesn't go too high it is not a bad project. If only i had the spare cash

I didn't have a look underneath the car so don't know if it has any transmission damage!

hmmmmmm... that car has been there for a long time though i rember like 3 weeks back i think it ended (dont no what it finshed on) but now its poped
back up again? seen it alot on this auction

Brakes are the same as any other, just black as in like 2008 sti.

Engine is the same EJ25 only with a few forged parts and heads are ported and flowed with uprated valves and springs. People who think it's worth 10k for the engine alone are just dreamers. You can build an engine like that for 3k.

In the real world where people think how to spend their cash, you could probably break this car for 10k.

I think you'll find that the engine is the Cosworth, so no way you could build it for £3k. Porsche brakes were an option.

And that is brand new block for 6k.

To build it yourself for 3k you can buy a second hand EJ25 short block for 500 pounds, get it resleeved, and get all the other forged parts for it - job done and with a proper sleeves and components you can have a stronger block than the cosworth one.

I think you'll find that some of the parts are cosworth, the casing etc are standard subaru ej257 and on the strength of that, back in teh real world, that could be built on the bench for a few quid over 3k.

I never said it's worth £10k now, I said it cost £10k.

If someone offered me a Cosworth Blue Printed engine and turbo for £3k, I would snap their hand off!!

You would pay over that for a standard overhaul!

This doesn't have the posche brakes, It has the STI brembos in black!

Don't even go down that route..... there are plenty of people running in excess of 500bhp/500lbft on unlined blocks. I'm one of them! As there are people who have had liner issues on re-linered blocks.

Well, they are as at the moment you can buy that type-25 for 5 grand. Other parts are easily worth over 5k, so you get the engine for free now. If you buy the car for 8k the engine has cost you about 3k.

I guess its personal preference Shaun, i would never have anything over 450/450 on a forged 2.5 US semi-closed block with standard liners.

I have a Cosworth engine already.... so should I put this one in the boot and go twin engine?

Personal preference is one thing, but then researching true facts about what is and what is not possible is my preferred option.

Whilst I would never say I will experience any problems with my block, I doubt I could ever say anything different even if it was linered. What happens, happens. But so far so good with over 8k (and that includes a mix of track use, both public and competition), running around 530bhp/550lbft. Although my block has been modified post delivery from Cosworth and pre install in to car (but not with liners).

More than one way to skin a cat and I certainly have never seen evidence that suggests either way is full proof.

You pay your money and take the risks.

for the way you can barter the 2nd hand market down now I don't think that car is worth buying unless you are doing all the work yourself, by the time the price settles and you pay someone for a repair I bet that car will stand you £15k?? I know the type 25 may be dearer but it would still be £15k for a crash repaired impreza! You can pick a straight spec C up for that. I was also at a rolling road day once and there was a type 25 there and mine made well over 100bhp more than it

It was the same shape as the one in the link above The owner was gutted with his results Chargespeed isn't a chav bodykit as its too expensive for them

Burberry is not cheap..... does not mean it isn't chav though!!
