Default Spec D Pain Colour Code

Hi all

I've touched in a couple of old chips/scratches (from the previous owner!) with some paint that my local Subaru dealer sold me.

The code on the pot is: J3617 SA006 #48W

The colour is stated as Crystal Gray (sic) M

But it looks too dark.

Does anyone have another code, or do I just need to add another couple of coats?

Cheers

I'll check the code on my car tomorrow as it is too dark now, but it's definately Crystal grey you want. Only colour they came in. Did you check the code against that on the chasis?

Thanks, another coat or two it is then. It's probably because it's on the side skirt, where the black plastic is showing. It does say not for bumpers on the pot, no idea why.

My pot of #48W doesn't seem to be a good match for the body paint on my Spec D. It's quite a bit darker and makes stone chip and scratch repairs pretty obvious. Is there anything I should do to blend it in properly?

I think it is just one of those paints that don't touch up well. Probably because of it's pearl effect.

I had a few marks due to usual driving on the front of my car, the lower bit... so just got it resprayed and then the whole car detailed. Perfect match!

Got those fog light holders to do next as paint seems very thin on them.

Too right - the whole of the front bumper paint is thin.
I'm trying to source foglight covers as the fogs are ineffective and sooner or later I'll put a hole through one.

Nick,

I just called my dealer and a few days later they were there waiting for me, ready painted in crystal grey.

To be honest I can't remember but I remember thinking it wasn't bad value at the time.

My WR Blue OE touch-up paint was no where near the colour of my Hawkeye, got some DrColourchip on the way so hoping that is better.

Fog Covers, got mine from US Ebay, brand new in Subura packaging, about £35 delivered IIRC, missed out on a few as I was not going to pay too much for them.

Blobeye ones used to be £37.50 from dealers painted and stickered. Can't see the Hawks being any more.

Are the covers available in Crystal Grey now? When I got my car, they were only in WR Blue, Black or White. Having them painted would have been too expensive.

Mine came off the shelf in Crystal Grey with the STi logos already on them as well.

Cool. I'll have to pop down to my dealer (for the 1st time ever). Although I'll have to take the STi stickers off.

Also gives me an excuse to check out the bird on reception with the huge breasts that's supposed to be worth a look.
