Default Lightened flywheel and clutch !!

Hello Good Subaru People

Around 3 months ago i took my standard STi 03 payed a good few quid
and ended up with 340BHP.

However 3 months down the line the standard STi clutch couldn't take much more and decided enough was enough !!

Now faced with the dilemma of which clutch should i buy and armed with many peoples opinions i was no further forward.

my choices were of many but i narrowed this down to an organic clutch and a lightened flywheel, As soon as i said to people lightened flywheel i got very mixed opinions, as follows.
The car will run rough , i will destroy the engine ? , it will be bad to drive , i will stall it all the time ,all sorts of bad reports.

be reassured this was all rubbish talk , my car idles perfect , its very nice to drive with a good positive feel to the clutch peddle, the car rev's much faster due to the reduced weight and feels very good on the road.

I am still driving fairly easy to bed the new clutch in but so far am very happy with the results.

This is where i will say a very big thanks to BOB'5 Aztec Performance Ltd
I hounded this guy for 2 days and nights regarding what to buy and got great advice. After a few PM's back and forth this guy installed good confidence in me and reassurance that i was making the right choice.

Thanks BOB'5.

The new Clutch and flywheel took 3 hours to fit to my car and i was on my way again.

Lightened flywheel

Chris.

Maybe a silly question but can you do the clutch without taking the exhaust off ?

I have just brought a Lighten flywheel and Exedy organic pink racing clutch as mines started to slip from Alyn @ a s performance.

Well the down pipe bends right in the way of the box so it was easier to just remove it than chance any problems.
They did say that they don't think its necessary to remove it on a classic.

Great write up and pics Chris

Glad you ignored the rubbish and went with the recommendation.

I've had the same flywheel in mine for years and love it

Must have had over 100 PMs back and forth (kidding - but close)
