****, that MUST be pushing them VERY close to going pop..
420 seems more reliable for me, with what turbo would be best for that?? wouldn,t fancy any, or much lag tbh....
Edited to ask,
What power is the top mount good for??

Dale's Spec C hit 396bhp on a Smacs RR day - now of course rolling roads vary greatly, but mine was pushing 229bhp and apart from a STi backbox was totally standard.
Dales was running a standard turbo at the time

I could get 400bhp out of the standard VF turbo, but I wouldnt be doing that on straight pump fuel.
Pete,
DON'T even think about going stupid horsepower if you are thinking of keeping this a road car. You should know above most, what that means in real world driving.
If you must mod, go for what you can get out of the standard turbo with the basics of a remap, K&N panel filter and 3" decat (if you want the most). If you want more, then at least wait until Litchfields have completed the testing on their new 400bhp twin scroll turbo.... which was awesome when I went out in their development car the other week and that was in a full weight MY08 STi. It would be even better in a Spec C.
If that is not enough power, consider a larger single scroll turbo, but if you keep a standard bottom end... don't expect it to last indefinately if looking at 430bhp+.
If that is not enough, go for a 2.5L built engine and a whopping drop in turbo or rotated.
Above all else, stop asking questions about power. Get the brakes and suspension sorted first, along with a whiteline handling kit and geometry, then take it on track and learn how to drive the thing first!!!
If I see you Sunday you can come out for a quick drive in mine.... that may be your wrong doing though, so I might have to refuse.

I drove a Spec C pushing 360 (ish) and it was for road use plenty fast enough and had a lovely spread of torque.
If its for the road driveability is key (imo)

PMSL @ Shaun,
You know me TOO well...
As said mate, i,d be more than happy with 350ish and 330+ lb/ft, just really wanted to know HOW far/much the standard internals will cope with..
You know yourself mate what it,s like coming from BIG bhp cossies etc...
I,ve said since owning the car, thye,re simply AWESOME, and i,m sure @ 350 odd they,re MORE than capable of matching most cars on the road.....

The thing is a Spec C is a superb car out of the crate and just a small amount of fettling with the handling and a remap will make a devastating road car - Immy from PCM let me drive his brand spanker and i was blown away on how good they are.
i want one

Fellas,,
Be honest, is the handling mod really neccesary?? i mean imo the car is stupendous now for road use, i think i,d go AP`s first over handling.
I hear what Shaun is saying and rightly so, but i,m not a big track man tbh after having a nasty off in my M3..so i,m happy with the handling as it is..

Well i,m probably biased (spelling) i,ve had AP 6Pots on my last 3 cars with 362mm discs and believe me, Bembos fell like Astra 1.3 brakes compared..

Staffi as you know mine is running the powerstation 400+ kit which makes it a very capable/quick road car its Ideal for trackwork as well with the hybrid twinscroll turbo that is on it,it gives great spoolup low down and no lag and as Shaun has said get the handling sorted which is worth more than any bhp. Im lucky in that my car is an RA so comes with all the nice pink handling goodies from sti as standard, the only reason that that I changed the brakes to PF items was due to lack of brakes after 5 hard laps round croft and I was having seriouse brake fade.

Standard top mount is good for over 450bhp on a road car.
As regards to a Cossie with big power.. Yeah but what about the handling compared to your scoob? Straight line power is for ******!
As regards to the handling mods. Drive a car with them and one without. If you are not impressed with the difference you should of bought a push bike!

Dont you ever sleep?
Agree when i first bought my Scoob i asked a lad at the club how to make my car faster - he replied 'make it stop and go round corners before you even think of upping the power' wise words indeed

Fellas fellas, i DO know about cars you know.. probably had more quicker cars than most and yes i know about handling, braking etc, all my thread was about was asking what power STANDARD INTERNALS cope with, i,m NOT throwing £££ into the car, NEVER will again, just a map, exhaust, brakes will surfice..

Still running std brembos on mine.
Power - dont get greedy - stick with the std turbo and set yourself a ceiling of 400 even though the std turbo wont get there.
Getting over 400 bhp gets very very expensive. It is right at the sort of point where a lot of things are at or approaching their limit so you have to do them all.
