Are tunnel run's a bit sad ?

Is going for a Sunday drive out in the country a total waste of time and fuel in your opinion?
I've done it as I enjoy driving and the sound created inside a tunnel is awesome. [well it is to me]
Each to their own.

i must admit its not something that i would go out on purpose just to do, but i gotta say there is something about flooring it through a long tunnel that still gives me a thrill.

Is sitting at your PC/laptop posting on a forum sad?
Is owning an Impreza sad?
Surely it's not sad to get out and enjoy your car and what it stands for, with a couple hundred other impreza owners.

tunnel runs are great fun although up north we dont have the luxury of many last nighrt 150 scoobies did the Blackpool charity run which raised 2k for charity with 150 scoobies stuck for up to 4 hours in slow moving traffic
none of us that atended would think it ''sad '' at all just part of the cummunity spirit that we have as part of the subaru lifestyle
chances are every car went through £50 of petrol and we all enjoyed it !!
great for the economy and good for our charity causes
that we raise money for on the many runs and trips that are planned by the subaru cummunity (in the last 6 years we have raised over 30k+++ for local charitys so dont think that is being sad at all .
Prehaps if you think it is sad maybe you should consider associating with us?

Apart from the McRae gathering I don't think I've ever seen as many Scoobies driving in convoy as we get on the ESC tunnel run's. Well over 200 last year and probably about the same again this coming Saturday.
It's not pointless from my perspective, we have mappers and tuning companies on previous years. Jolly Green Monster has confirmed this year and I remember very well ZEN bringing their (what went on to be) time attack winning car for us all to look at.
Most importantly in all the years we have been doing this we've raised over £5,000 for Essex Air Ambulance
It's a great atmosphere, come along and try it and then see how you feel

Tunnell runs sound great up north we only have the tyne tunnel in newcastle and its great fun blasting through with the windows wound down
Its like the NBO where 300 subarus drive from all over the country to meet up in a field
Blackpool Big One where 150 subarus meet up and drive through the lights
and of course the many runs that subaru clubs organise through the countryside
The subaru cummunity is massive now all over the country and eventually will be as big as the RS ford network ,and Im glad I've been a part of this for tjhe last 8 years of my life .
All ready we are planning 3 years time for the replacement for the NBO which will take us through another exciting 10 years of our lives
Subarus (and the lifestyle) are there for life and not just Christmas
so I dont think it is Sad at all

tunnel runs get the adrenalin pumping
ive found that i always drop a gear and put my foot down when i go under bridges. some have better acoustics than others, but the best ones are the ones with pedestrians under them
i cant believe that i admitted that

I only have 1 tunnel near me which is next to a bus station but with the windows down the sound echoing through there sounds fantastic! I first enjoyed flooring it through tunnels in my old BMW E30 with an induction kit, then a Ford Probe with an induction kit, and now my Impreza Turbo without an induction kit but a 4" tailpipe and decat instead.
The Impreza sounds plain evil when I floor it through that tunnel. It was enough for my girlfriend to have a go at me later after I'd dropped her off and she was 100 metres away!
Bring on the Tunnel Run!

I know, it's naughty, but I do love to give my car a little squirt in a tunnel; the sound of a Impreza turbo with a decent exhaust really is the muts nuts when in an enclosed space. I even got a thumbs up from a TVR driver once....praise indeed!
