Same happened to me not long after I got my car - wife heard a big bang outside, and looked out the window to see a car load of ******* speeding off.

They tried to pull the spoiler off, but only succeeded in splitting the two upright supports and cracking some of the base.

I assume they thought it was just bonded on like the boy racers do with theirs to the Corsas, and not bolted through the boot ( no way you would ever remove it apart from in pieces ).

Hopefully you'll find a WR blue on on here for not a lot soon.
Some tw*t tried to nick one of my Cossie Escort in 1995. Used a screwdriver to try to lever it off. Result, one smashed spoiler, one scratched hatch...

Remember about 10y ago some **** pulled the front bumper off my saphire cosworth. Broke it so no use to anyone, I only had 3rd party ins. £600 for an unpainted replacement. Bollox! it still pi$$es me off.
As the quote from Pulp Fiction goes: it would almost be worth him doing it to catch him doing it!
commiserations

Gone through the phone calls to the police today and with insurance(A-plan)they were very helpful. And been and had the damage assesed at the repair place, just got to wait for them to get back to me.Luckily had protected no-claims!!
It's just the eccess is £400!!but still cheaper than getting it sorted myself
Thanks for the sympathy guys.

I had one break into a car once for a stereo in my toyota which is bolted into a cage in the dash as standard. which any car stereo thief worth his salt would have known! and it was alarmed and on the drive berty bat got a bit of a workout that night you just dont get the same quality of career criminal these days. that cost me over £400 as well, so i know how you feel

if it wasnt for the fact that most of the time you need a crime number from the police to claim off your insurance theres not much point ringing them.i feel for you mate, hope who ever did this gets run over on the way home.

Unhappy

Scumbags. A few years ago I saw a pi$$ed up student (one of a group) lever herself up onto my car using the rear spoiler and walk all the way over the top of it, denting the roof. I was outside with a broom handle before I knew what I was doing, grabbed a student, but he denied all knowledge of her and when the law turned up and saw me and a terrified little college boy, they took a dim view of my *ahem* walking stick.

Little t**ts they are - anyway - I realise that by now you've spoken to the insurance but if it helps I do have that same spoiler (i think it is anyway - its WR blue from a 2005 blob eye mine is....) sat in my garage at home as I replaced mine with the STi type and never get round to selling it. I'm up in Hull area so if you're interested let me know.

Not the most erudite of posters, but you can see what his point is. It doesnt instil confidence when the Police cant be bothered to attend a crime, and its not the first time. Personally, I appreciate the hard job the law have these days, but they dont want to alienate the law abiders by not showing up.

Fact is Police do not attend crime scenes for minor crimes routinely. The resources are simply not available The government insists they attend certain crimes eg residential burglaries. Many moan that when their car was stolen the police didn't attend. As the car is not on the driveway, what is the point of police attending? Details can be taken over the phone, the car circulated as stolen etc.
Any post that refers to the police as pigs instils me with an image of a 12 yr old. When I was 12 thats what I called the police. I'm older and wiser now. I refuse to see any point in a thread that begins so childishly.

You need to pick the bones out of it. Dont dismiss it because it starts badly, or even is in text speak. Not everyone is at the same level intellectually. I agree about calling them Pigs, not constructive, but at the same time, accept on a forum like this, you will get a wide spectrum of opinions and more importantly the skill to convey that opinion.
