hi i did a search but wondered what would be best for my engine as i only travel a few miles and my oil temp doesn,t go from the stop ( 50 deg prosport gauge) by the time i get to work. is there a grade that will warm quicker ( i stay below 2500rpm) cheers j

 

Probably a 5w 40 if you aren't driving the car hard. The first number is viscosity from cold: So a 5w 40 for e.g, would lubricate better than a 15w 50 from cold.

Just out of interest - What oil is in it at the moment? 15w50?

 

Change it more often if you do lots of short journeys

Not wanting to Hijack this thread, but thought I'd join in, as I will be changing mine soon.

I do lots of short trips, so 5w40 would be best for me then? What make? Also, which filter would be best to use?
