How much should I get?
#1
Having driven the new Sti this morning I now find myself really wanting one. How much should I expect to get from a dealer for my car.
99 MY
T plate
Air Con
12 CD
FSSH
Nice SUB plate
Gold alloys (No Pete this will not devalue the whole car)
All in A1 condition.
29,000 miles.
Chip.

I think the dealer will be a bit more lenient as you are buying an STi7 from him as well.
Sold my April 2000 MY00 a few weeks ago to a dealer and only got £12650 for it. That was for a UK car, FSSH with 17500 miles on the clock. Immaculate, never smoked in, never been on a trackday, brand new tyres (wish I hadn't bothered). Car didn't have Aircon or a sunroof.
That sounds like a bad price until you think the two local Subaru dealers near me didn't even want to look at it. All dealers will tell you that they are not really interested in cars without aircon as they are harder to sell.

Looks like the dealers offer of 14-14.5K is pretty good then. Said he may even go a little more if he finds buyer for my car straight away. Know someone who just 14.5 for Oct 98 against an Sti though this did have leather and s/roof.

JoeyDeacon,
I'm sure you'll appreciate that known dealers will say anything to beat you down on price.
If no A/C is 'a real problem' to them they could always retro-fit it themselves, at cost price of course, and recover this via the sticker price.
I'd say £14-14.5k would be worth taking. Let's face it, it would be hard to (easily) get near £13k privately for the car and then there wouldn't be much chance of getting anything, let alone £2k off the list price of a UK STi!

Obviously being a bit more generous as you are buying the STi. If I were you I would be more than happy with that!
Stephen Read,
Totally agree 100% with everything you say. I have been around enough car dealers now to know everything they say is rubbish. The reason I took the offer is because I wanted to get rid and he was the only person offering to buy it. I knew he was talking total rubbish about the Aircon and I told him this but he still wouldn't have it.

I gather some dealers are offering £1k off an STi anyway, so an offer of £14k or so off a list price STi sounds about right - quite good actually! I'd go for it...
Might be worth ringing another dealer just to see though
Cheers

14k against an STI sounds great - I was offered £13500 for my car. MY00 (V plate, UK supplied), 30k miles, PPP, 17" wheels, PIAA lights, aircon. I'm on pretty good terms with my dealer and have had discounts from them before, but I didn't feel they were doing me any real favours.
I'll probably wait another year or so, to wait and see whether the STI gets any power hikes or cosmetic upgrades; I'd really like an STI with the Prodrive Style rear wing, driving lights, and the full 280bhp. I'm sure these will all be available within a year.
Andy.

Have a look at the Subaru UK website used car search and compare your car to some of those on sale there at dealers all over the country. My dealer gave me what I asked for against a new WRX (£13800), I was amazed. Mine is a MY99, sunroof, concours immaculate (salesman was amazed), 32,000 miles. Good deal me thinks

I got £12500 for MY99 in Green.
Had 17" Golds, large rear spoiler, air con, very clean inside. Had 45,000 miles on clock so bit over the top there.
Now got the STI 7 Proddrive at £27495 with MATTS (wow).
All part exchanged, and No finance.
