#1
hey all..
havent been on the board for a bit... but i am back... and in a new car to boot!! hehehe...
just wondering if you all were aware of the steps PRODRIVE is taking in the US???
they have chosen and are sponsoring 2 drivers here with cars that will be runnin their first event this weekend at the Sno*Drift National Pro Rally in Michigan.
the beginning of this month, 8 drivers came to the UK and tested with Prodrive... 2 were chosen they were Karl Schieble (US) and Mark Lovell (UK)....
i think this is AWESOME !!! awesome for rally in the states... just a really fantastic move!!
i am very, very excited about this... will FIA be hanging out here... checking things out?? will we have a WRC event here eventually?? yeah i know.. but these are baby steps... and i am just getting all wound up about it!!!
hehehehe!!!
anyway... i was just curious if any of you had heard about this... maybe you know more about it than i....
very excited subie gal!!!
take care

I think it's true that the prodrive 1 in the US is not a legal road car.....as it fails all the emission ratings with the sports exhaust and engine kit, I go to Boston a lot with work and a mate there owns a JAP import !! When it has its yearly test, he has to change all the mods to US spec and it takes him the best part of a week after the test to put it back together again, beat that for loving your scooby !!

The information that I have, is that they will be Grp N cars not WRC spec.
They will like the other Grp N (EVOs and Imprezas) cars that are here not be road legal. Don't get me started on the rules of importing cars to the USA

Mark Lovell used to rally Cossie's when they first hit the scene in 84/85. Have a video of him somewhere in the 85 (I think) Manx where he crashed early in the rally and the went from 65th place to something like 7th on day 2 - awesome, suer he finished 2nd or 3rd behind Jimmy McRae who was in another cossie.. Thought he had great potential but he never really made it to the international scene.

Mark was British national champion in 85 in a Nissan 240 RS and then won the British Open championship in 86 in the Ford RS 200 (although he didn't actually win a rally that year). I remember that he went on to burn the car to a cinder in Cardrona on the RAC that year - I remember cos I was marshalling on the next stage and there was a huge delay as a result (and it was very, very, very wet!).
I'm pretty sure I saw him race a Sierra Cosworth at Knockhill last year or the year before in a club race. Good to see him getting back into more serious stuff though.
