I've done loads of sets myself and as long as you prep the surface correctly and spray the insides of the spokes first you can get great results I always opt for the more expensive cans that I get made up though.

i had my type R alloys done with a place called pxwheels.com. they advertise on e bay, they send you refurbed alloys, you put your existing tyres on the new rims and send your old rims back to them, you kind of do a swap like for like.

Depands what colour really and also if using filler try to kep it to the bear minimum. Make sure to use a zinc primer to stop rusting before painting and yes lots of sanding / scotching depending on condition of wheels. Let me no if you are going to do this and i will talk you through it.

It's quite possible to do them yourself, however the biggest issue with using aerosol lacquer is because it is a one pack product it will not be as durable as a quality high solid 2k lacquer, which is what would be used by a painter if you got them done properly.
Work out how much it's going to cost you to do them (paint, lacquer etc.) and if it looks like costing a lot I'd get them done professionally.
As said earlyier in the thread, 40-50 per wheel is about right, although if you want them dipped and powdercoated it will probably be more.

I did mine a while ago for around £35.00.
I used a small flat sander to get rid of all the scuffs etc and take off the top layer.
Then I used a Grey primer and I realised at this point that the alloys were going to be alot better than they were.
I then applied loads of coats [used 2 x tins] and assisted the drying with a heatlamp and the following day appplied 2 more tin fulls of laquer onto the 4 alloys.
The end result is great although obviously not as tuff as a pro sprayer but ideal if you are on a budget.
The last set I got 'proffessionaly' refurbed ended up the wrong colour and poor quality for £200 after knocking £60 off the price.

Looks a great job on this one.
I fancy doing mine, I have no damage or kerb marks just fancy them being dark silver, call me **** but I also want the inside of the wheel to look just as good as the outside!
Anyone actually lacquer the inside of the rim?
