FFS its not even a redtop engine, its a fooking ecotec ughh wash yer mouth out ....at least the redtops were a real engine, that ecotec powered pile of cow dung
Yep they are, but with a few tweeks they rev very well and surprise quite a few things as i found out with my own. Here she is with a fully rebuilt 'redtop engine' and some nice headwork and mods
Still have it, and it lives in the garage now....sure it was nippy and quite quick, but it would spin the wheels on a spittle lol ....no comparison to a scooby though

PMSFL I used to have an 8v astra GTE when they were the cars to have and that would spin the wheels for fun in 1st and 2nd , purely as they have no grip and are front wheel drive
**** nows why they ever went near the vauxhauls though. Gives people the impression they make good cars. The only thing good is the "cosworth head". Hence red top.
Unfortunately only the earlier cars had the cosworth or 'coscast' head, the later ones used a GM head and were prone to going porus and mixing the oil and water....nice mess
Had it happen myself but got the head repaired and sleeved by a company called V-TUNING for £100 all in, great job!!

At a guess i'd say 180bhp or thereabouts....any more than that would need throttle bodies or carb's. I know quite a few people with these 'sleeved' heads on 280bhp+ engined rally cars (massive engine spec) though, all with no head problems at all
