Price for a reliable and usable 450/450??
After contemplating a few new car options recently, I am now thinking of the implications of maybe running some big power through my current MY07 STi.
After adding a few bits and bobs and Ecutek the car is roughly running 365/390 and although this is impressive to me as with everything you start to get used to it.
So I am wondering what the outlay of achieving around 450/450 would be?
I am after a rough guideline of the cost of individual parts and then labour?
Obviously the suspension/brakes would need further upgrades but I am just after the cost of all engine/ecu/clutch costs?
Also is there such a thing of achieving such power figures reliably and if running such power would the car be usable and not awkward to drive on a regular basis?
I work on a 6 days on 4 days off basis at work, I have a run around work car for my 6 days on but use the Scoob exclusively during my 4 days off and for short trips during my working days so I use it quite a bit, just not for the long work journey.
Any advice on parts/cost/people to use/general advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

dig deep friend. fq400 was 400/400 and mitsi uk wanted £50K to stand over the warranty.
450/450 is getting into the realms of unusable on the road. just too fast. you have to start unlearning what you knew about driving. well known roads that you drive e.g. corners that a normal cars enter at 70 you find yourself coming at them at 100+. you learn the hard way when you come out of a turn and stamp in the loud pedal.
basically just re-learn how to drive with an easy right foot. you have nothing to prove to anyone who wants to race. why would you give them the pleasure and destroy your engine(that you paid big money for) at the same time, just so you can blow the doors of some tosser in a focus st,saxo,vw,seat, audi, porsche, mercedes ad nauseaum

Allow £8000 to £10,000 to do it properly to include.
Built 2.5 , turbo (MD555, 321T, FP Green et etc), injectors, front mount, remap, allowing a bit spare to do pump, parallel fuel rails and any other bits you fancied.
A 450/450 2.5 is a lovely daily drive, fast when you want it without being at all undriveable.

Hmmm, we would either be talking about putting another £10k into the scooby or buying something like an E60 M5 or something alike.
I have also been told that putting a MD321t on and some samco inlet hoses would do the trick after a remap and thats it to achieve the desired figures?
I was always under the impression that stronger internals/gearbox would be required when going over the 400bhp mark...

Hence why in my list I recommended a built 2.5 engine, ie forged rods and pistons.
The T will do the business as will many other turbos in that price bracket, the Samco inlet hose is a worthwhile upgrade to aid flow into the turbo.
You could also look at the APS hard intake pipe as a possible option.
